Next patch?

Is there an ETA ?
There should be patches on a atleast 14 day cycle basis now !

according to Belmarduk

We're definitely NOT on a 14-day cycle, I can tell you that. We're still in the process of deciding whether we need to take extra time on some event stuff or break it up into two patches, but if we go with the latter option I believe we're about two weeks out from Test Center with this one.

Thx for answer replied Belmarduk
Imho its necessary to get out patches really on a regular basis now.
The improvements KR had over the last 9 month must in Future be on a 1-2 months basis or there wont be many left in a year or so to enjoy these improvements...

Then it would probly be cheaper to just have the legacy client and do only events for a playerbase getting smaller and smaller because of the lack of new subscribers...

The way the dev team is going atm is good ! , but there is no marign anymore for "slacks" of months of nothing happening, like it often happened.

phantus had some further questions

Tired of talk about tram/fel and dragons and petballs...

1.) Is there any other MMO that has a test center type environment similar to ours? EA Mythic or otherwise.

2.) Is the Quality team so bad that they need the players to test everything they add to the game?

3.) Are we as players so paranoid something is going to be added that isn't tested we go along with this idea.

4.) Does test spoil new content for you?

I have been a long opponent to the test center. I never felt that it was necessary and in many ways was a detriment to the game. Nothing is ever going to be a surprise when things are added to it then to origin then to the production shards IMNSHO. It seems that even when a change is unfavorable and complaints and fears are mentioned it doesn't matter because they go to production anyway so I'm generally unsure why we bother. Has test outlived it's usefullness other than a place for kids to meet and play?

If you don't want it to be a surprise, then don't play on the Test Center Shard.

I think it's a great way to iron out bugs in new content. Is there any better method than by having it played en masse? Plus the Devs can get feedback on the new content before making it final.

Offhand, I can't think of an MMO that doesn't have a public test server - can anyone else?

Guild Wars.

What do I win?

it only won him this reply from Jeremy.

Ooh, right! Forgot about Guild Wars - they do some very different stuff with their public testing and patch cycles. I'm not sure how relevant it'd be to our model though - will have to research.

Meaning, We dont want to do same mistake as the Scavanger Hunt - Is UO still worth putting so much work on? Patching KR and Events should be different teams.. and should not need to be waited on. UO is full of bugs after 10 years.. and the communication betwen EAM and community is just worse and worse.. *shrugs*

The sinking ship sinks faster...
