Re: Leaders? GMs?

Creating a new guild with new characters is not going to change much. Once the novelty wears off your right back where you started from.

I was not talking about myself, just expressing a worry for other people. I wouldn't like the idea if those i like to rp with would be excluded

Re: Leaders? GMs?

I don't like the idea of starting again. If we're doing that we might as well listen to Kaelyn's constant harping and actually go to a freeshard. ;)

Like I said in the other thread, any sort of re-organisation or centralization won't be the result of a mass-move, it'll be gradual progress. If you tell everyone "right, as of the 1st of March we're all making new characters in X" it'd never happen. Far too much effort, you'd leave half the people behind.

If it gets everybody together in one area and working together I think it's better than 3 people on opposite ends of the earth ;)

As for the "New char? No thanks!" well... it's not official yet, but it's not hard to make an alt, surely?

In the past such communities were attempted and they failed, the guilds that merged to form them were essentially ruined by said merger. So yes, we do stand to lose.

Re: Leaders? GMs?

What? You make a new guild, everyone makes an alt and joins it.

Who merged?

Re: Leaders? GMs?

The merger of the PLAYERBASE will either result in:

a) A half assed attempt at the new concept which will result in it not succeeding and damage the existing guilds
b) The success of the concept and the ruin of existing guilds.

As I said, we've seen such projects before and they never worked and those guilds that participated ultimatley came out of it worse.

You don't need to be a GM to answer that - Nothing is going on.

Re: Leaders? GMs?

Please name these projects and direct me to their websites/forums if they still exsist.

Assuming people are only capable of ever playing one character, then yes it might ruin all the exsisting guilds. People can, do, and will be able to manage more than one character though. The old guilds will still be there.

Re: Leaders? GMs?

They don't exist, however one of them was created from the merger of two large guilds - Mer and L*F. Both of which faded to nothing within months of the merger dissolving because the players were unable to identify with a new concept having been a member of their original guild for so long. And I recall ERPA did something like this too, no? And you surely remember PoY?

And playing multiple characters is part of why so many guilds are buggered and why new guilds rarely succeed. So again, I say this project would spell the doom of roleplay.

Re: Leaders? GMs?

PoY was completely different to the proposed thing! That guild was supposed to let people in CoY play as peasents and the like and bring the area to life, not as an alternative to having to relocate a load of guilds from different parts of the world.

As for ERPA and the pair of guilds I have never heard of I cant really judge since there are no old forums or whatever for me to look at.

I'm still going to have to disagree, alot of people in CoY had alts in other guilds (even though there was a rule against it) and it was full of guilds that were active every day.
