Re: Centralized RP Community?
You can try being a leader, but in my experience it doesn't matter how much sense you speak - Europa roleplay's a popularity contest. The Callums and the Irvyns and the Seriya's of the community, past and present, have been in positions to instigate change because they were popular.
If any of those people are still around, they don't speak up.

Re: Centralized RP Community?
There´s a not so fine line between spontaneous and outright stupid. (not saying you are, but there´s plenty)

Re: Centralized RP Community?
But the line between boredom and enjoyment is equally as thin. Surely it's better to weather a storm of stupidity than be caught in a calm sea of repetition?

Re: Centralized RP Community?
Udrak, you missed the point I was making. Its not about planning every step of the way, that is not done. It is about suggesting a possible situation or finding out something that interests your character and letting it run freely without dictating or controlling the outcome. As I said it is about finding out things and getting involved using your own imagination.
Wow!!!!!! Is it hot stuff!!!!!! Have a situation where the female gender is the dominant force and the stereotypical response will surface sooner or later.

Re: Centralized RP Community?
To pick up on that point, I cannot speak for other guilds, but there are IC reasons why F^L do not go to Yew. That is not to say we have not been there in the past or will not go back in the future. In fact not so long ago Vierna and Klion had some interesting and prolonged RP regarding something that at the time was mutually to both our benefits. Vierna is a user and used Klion. As a result Vierna found out something about Klion that no one else knows and she will use it when the time is right.

Re: Centralized RP Community?
We must be thankful that such gracious souls deem us worthy of their presence on occasion.
I don't really mind isolation, Grd has always been isolated to a large extent throughout its history even during CoY, so it's just buisness as usual atm. But I still think that Deadwood esque idea would be pretty sweet if people could commit to it. |

And as for reasons to come to Yew, the whole point is looking outside of the box. Be creative! Maybe the drow found some great artifact in Yew crypts they were coming to investigate, maybe E-V (or DoT now) came to be with their awakening elf friends in the forests or maybe the Vesper Trading Company are expanding their business across the North. Don't you see? The potential is only limited to what you're willing to do. Anyone can make a two-a-penny storyline up on the spot and enjoy the fruits of it. It's only our OOC prejudices and interests holding us back.

Re: Centralized RP Community?
No, I know exactly whats behind it all. I suppose what you cant get real life, there's always fantasy. Still if it makes some people happy........
As to your further point, there you go making generalisations and assumptions for which you know nothing about. Co-incidentally, in one of our scenarios we are looking for an artifact. Whether its found in Yew or anywhere else remains to be seen. If it is not in Yew then it will have nothing to do with OOC prejudice. As a matter of fact on an OOC level Klion and I have get on very well.

Re: Centralized RP Community?
Oh here we go, there goes the neighborhood. What are you talking about? Really, I wish people like you wouldn't post in these threads if YOU can't shelve the attitude - because I end up getting flak for being abusive. Well here's ME giving YOU flak for being sensitive.
You don't have to get uppity and self important and accuse me of "knowing nothing about[!]" your little roleplay life. You don't have to get all defensive and upset because I'm making great sweeping generalisations about roleplay as a whole. And you certainly don't have to get on your high horse about RPG/internet perverts, because sweety you chose to play a fantasy race, on a roleplaying game, that is famed for their super human beauty. Go figure. I'm not interested in F^L's reasons NOT to go to Yew, or Grd's reasons NOT to go to Trinsic or BoC's reasons NOT to go to, er, Skara Brae? All I'm saying is that if we were really interested in centralization then we'd be able to find the reasons FOR going to these places or just be creative and make some. Because it really isn't difficult. I'm not making this personally about you or F^L, I'm not telling you what your guild is or your personal situation is - I didn't even name your guild til now, I said "the drow." I'm giving examples, loose examples of how centralization is possible. You want to be the prize narcisist, that's cool. You want to make this all about you? That's fine. I tell you what you do (and I never thought I'd hear myself say THIS, either) you find my ICQ, you get in touch, and I'll happily rip you to bits. But here? Now? I'm not interested in being more of a dick than I can avoid. I'm simply saying, want to centralize? You could. But you probably don't!

Re: Centralized RP Community?
He speaks the truth folks. People are not willing to make a change, even in the face of losing the community, which is happening at an alarming rate! Players are leaving in droves, has no one noticed? I'm currently in a kin/guild with around 12 ex-uo players on LOTR. That's twelve that have all but given up on uo, and that's just in my small corner of the world.
The fact is people wont let go of old grudges and everyone loves their little RP area far to much to change. Sorry to say but the RP community is going no where fast like this. If i knew all the RP was going on in one area i'd likely be back playing daily as i used to and i bet others would also. Scenerios are only going to last so long Hedlyn, people need to actually move their HQ's all to one place. Last edited by Henry Winter B^F; 26th February 2008 at 12:59 AM. |
