| Selling your goods.. This is something I find interesting...I don't sell things very often but when I do, I usually sell my items for below what the going price is.
BLASPHEMY you say..
Well.. As a Player who plays to have fun and doesn't play to have the most money or the coolest toys I like to give everyone a chance. There are some young players who might not be able to afford a 40K piece of Armor.
Let's have a few examples you say.
I got a Crimson Ciniture last night. the most coveted piece of loot in the game I think. After looking around at prices, I sold it for a cool 10M. My husband had a FIT. I told him it was none of his business, it was mine, I got it, I could sell it for whatever I wanted. Alas, he was not the only one who was curious. a few people at the bank upon hearing me sell it for 10M asked me why. Simply put..."Because I want to give everyone a chance"
My dealings at the bank aren't always pleasant. I had a little too much fun with a Runic kit and was selling a nice suit of 60's (not top notch but good I thought) after about an hour a few players came up to me and started telling me it sucked, he got better items off a Mongbat, or that he threw better stuff away.
The funny thing was, I wasn't asking much for it.. 50K was my goal. Now here is the funny part. The guy who was basically telling me my stuff was crap, offered me 100K to shut up. I wasn't gonna pass up that deal. Not only did I get a 100K from him to shut up, another player came over and wanted to buy the suit for 100K.. Well, now I just made 200K for a suit I was only thinking 50K for.
So what makes another player the authority on what your selling? Especially when I am not even giving a price, Someone could have said "Excuse me, I only have 500 gp" and I probably would have sold a piece of the armor to him. 5k probably would have gotten someone the whole suit. Now if I was screaming out for 10M then, sure, you can come tell me to shut up or what I was selling was worthless.
I play to have fun, not to make money. If I want something I usually wait to buy it or I use my crafter to make it for myself. Alot of the time my Husband will have doubles or even triples and give it to me. On the rare occasion I will beg the hubby to buy it for me.
I guess the point is.. I play to have fun and if I can give a newbie a decent suit of armor for next to nothing then so be it. Someone did that for me, and some people still do those things for me. So why not pay it forward?
Now I am not saying I am gonna flat out give a Million dollar artifact out, I'll sell it for what I think is reasonable and probably below what luna is asking for.
So what do you do when you sell your goods? Do you ask for fair market Value? Below market Value?
