I have been missing weekly lectures done by Umbra. However, since the guild of Umbra is not about recently. I was wondering if these Lectures could still go on. I would like to offer Tremere to have weekly, biweekly or even monthly Lectures held on Marble Island. Lectures can stem from Battle Techniques to Healing and Magix. And allow members of the community to host or provide information to these lectures.

The reason behind it is that Tremere tend to horde information rather than share it. So by providing an outlet will allow Tremere library to grow. It will provide other members of the rp community to produce and share techniques with others in the community.

If this is something that might be good and would like an honest attempt please place your reply under here. I think Muldran is getting antsy because he hasnt bestowed his wisdom for a long bit of time.

This sounds like a good idea. I take it you'd be willing to get a few people together for this, Jade?

In future, i would be more than happy to lecture. But circumstances prevent my character from sharing her knowledge at present.

I might also be prepared to give lectures if anyone is interested and gives me enough notice to prep for it

I enjoyed the few Umbra lectures i got to attend, so if anything like it is to be held, i´ll be there.
(I´ll give the hosting part some thought, but no promises )

Never, ever, ever, ever understood why X amount of people would turn up to watch one man roleplay. I guess I'll never "get" it.

*wonders if he actually attended one of those lectures since they never were one man shows, they always involved those attending the lecture to think about the matter and discuss it. Also there were expeditions held as well in regards to certain lectures. ah well... is something else then go around and looking for the next pvp battle.*

It never was one man role playing - ever.

It was many people interacting with questions answers trips out murder mysteries and more.

And even if it was a one man lecture - havent you ever had the urge to go listen to someone like Peter Ustinov talking?

Its an IN character way of learning about things such as player lore, uo world lore, the real history of towns such as Dreamstone, Deepwater and Naeloth - role play towns.

Places such as Unicorn Grove, the Black Gate of Nohkmar the histories of Saktoth and others.

I m quite happy to listen to someone such as Garod or Muldran or Aryala give a lecture on magic - its fascinating and a great alternative way of role playing.

At the first lecture on war and peace Twothumb even got wtfpwnd by an assasin.

Its NOT solo role play its inclusive and imaginative role play.

Well. I find these kind of events interesting. Obviously it depends on who's there, and even more on who's holding the lecture, but then again you have the choice not to attend if there's a topic you're not terribly interested in. Writing off the previous lectures as one-man shows would however not have any root in reality, as others pointed out. It does however require the active participation of the attendees, which to an extent is not necessary in all UO RP events.
