Yet again, I have a stuck resists problem.

I've tried everything I know of and despite a few specific changes (like from having "protection" on or off) I can't figure out why my stats are behaving the way they do.

I've tried ward removal, curse removal, wildfire removal, on/off magic reflect, protection, reactive armor and this is what I ended up with:

Totally naked, my stats are all at 37. Nothing I put on as armor moves that number, except my barbed leather sleeves which change my energy resist.

What's going on???

You mean Resists??

If so, if it shows 37 I'll assume your Restist Spells skill is somewhere around 90.

Resists Spells gives you permanant un-stackable (with armor resists) resists (up to 44 at Legendary). Any armor you put on that does not add up to more than what your Resist Spell skill gives you (in your case 37) will not show until your armor resist surpasses it.

Yup. Unless of course I have Protection on, which I usually do since I am always battling pesky sea monsters.

Does this feature start when you hit 90 res. spells? or earlier?

It starts earlier. I forget how early (10 maybe, giving you 4 in all resists).

I guess I understand now, though it would appear I still have REALLY sucky armor.

I went with LRC armor since that's SO damned convenient but I seem to have lost a LOT in resists that way. (I refuse to spend a fortune buying high-priced armor).

Aye, that seems to be the case.

In time, you will be able to build your own LRC suit with good/decent resists. Good luck with it!

There are some relatively cheap MArties that could help you out if you don't have them yet, and try to get a Mage Book with +LRC to take the burden off trying to find armor with both LRC and good resists.

Ok. So this leads me to ask... if my Mage/Fisherman primarily kills sea monsters and carries plenty of orange petals, what resists should I be aiming to increase?

I figure poison is taken care of with petals and I don't think sea monsters use cold at all so that leaves fire, energy and physical? Since they use magic, is physical not an issue?

I only use Fire/Energy on mine.

And Krakens/Leviathans I hunt with a tamer friend so I just need to hide near his pet.

I do Krakens myself (I hide right away so I only deal with the beasties one at a time) but have not had the nerve to attempt Leviathans.

To hunt leviathans, go on buccanner's docks, at the end of the docks, target the water tiles on the SE edge of your screen, it is Deep Water.

If you summon a leviathan on your boat you'll be in a tough position as it teleports onto the boat. It also teleports on land but at least you can be alone with him without the rest of the spawn.
