Yes lets isolate new players even more by tailoring all the monsters to people with 800 million gold and a set of artifacts for every day of the week instead of adding new ones!

well let me point out that in the scheme of things arties really are not that good and you made a good point about the expensiveness of things but hopefully all that will change with the explosions going on arond town

Re: Dragons Buffed on Test

Upgrading Dragons (which needed to be done) is "all the monsters"???

800 million gold is common place in UO???

I would have never known. Considering that I could take on up to 5 dragons (before they were buffed) with hardly any problem and I had no where near 800 million gold, I think you are just a little off.

Try using better tactics (not in game skill, but RL skill).

Re: Dragons Buffed on Test

alright, they didn't change the loot on the greater dragons, so its not about loot.
I think the change is to put dragon back in the top tier for taming, and/or an internal change for a future plot device.

Either way its nice that something the community has been asking about for a long time has been fullfilled.

PS. Greater Dragons can still be soloed by an archer, but who really camps lvl 1 destard anyway.

Re: Dragons Buffed on Test

I agree with Dip
I had no problems taking on multiple dragons/targets with my archer, tamer or paladin swordsman (When I played that is, heh)
And I had no l33t items either, but I did have some uber nice lag, playing on a west coast shard, from England. *growls*

Re: Dragons Buffed on Test

So what is the current pwnability level of the current dragons then?
Not being able to check it out myself at this moment, could someone supply more detailed info?

Like, how did they buff them?
Just hp/resists or more powerful breath weapon or perhaps something else?

In my opinion a dragon's breath should toast the average noob with a single burp. Perhaps a veteran would be able to withstand two burps, but 3 would still definately mean crispy toast!

Good to know they didn't upgrade their loot, although I would have liked to see some changes to dragon scale armour. Perhaps special ingredients (similar to the peerles ones) that can be used to make more powerful dragon armour, which would only spawn on dragons.

Re: Dragons Buffed on Test

I find my pet Dragon (who I haven't used in 4 years) to be rather weak today, and he is GM in all but Magery, but my White Wrym seems to be rather strong. But imo I still think Dragons are formiddable in PvE, especially if you fail provoke and have 2+ on your ass, but there's no harm in having 2 types of Dragons? Instead of just buffing them all? New level to Destard full of new Dragons? Shrug.

This is called exaggeration, it's what is often used to prove a point. And running off the screen as fast as you can to bandage fire breath is hardly rocket science!

Exaggeration is sometimes used to help get a point accross, I'm not sure how you didnt get that but its unimportant. Also, I was responding to the guy who said "make the game more challenging i say with all the new advancments in arties and weapons and armor all monsters should be buffed up 10% except abysss and rend", but thanks for your comments anyway friend

Yes, I understand exaggeration. Still, there's no need to even get into "OMG they are screwing the lower end/casual/poor player" when they only did something (buffing dragons) that's been A) BEGGED FOR, B) needed, and C) something they'd been planning to do for a long time.

Unless you think taking down 5 dragons before the buff without a problem was exaggeration. No, it wasn't just running to bandage fire breath, I spent more time looting/skinning the 5 then I did killing. They were cupcakes before, don't deny it.
