Question about Mining
This skill takes forever. I don't mean forever like some of the other skills. One of the big reasons is because you have to keep switching areas to mine more ore.
Just wondering, has anyone GM mining by just going around from place to place picking away? How many years did it take you? |

Re: Question about Mining
What is your skill now?
I'm at about 93 or so I guess after a couple weeks of casual mining and smelting. I seem to get most of my gains from single-smelting agapite ore at this point. I assume at 95 you can move to verite and then to valorite to take you to GM. You can speed up the process a bit by using gargoyle's pickaxes to mine higher color ore and digging up the ore elementals (get 25 ore from them when you kill them) assuming you can kill them with your miner. By the time I was ready to smelt agapite I had already dug up about 600 ore and just smelting that pile one at a time gave me quite a bit of gain. |

Re: Question about Mining
Smelting Ore one at a time indeed gives some gains. Actually I'd say that you need about 50 hours of consecutive mining (split that in days knowing how much you mine) to hit 99-100.

Re: Question about Mining
I must be going about this wrong. I've dugged for hours and hours and my skill is at 50. That's only because it was accelerated for a quest. I've been picking until all of my pickaxes break with little gain. That's a lot of double clicks.
![]() I can't imagine how you're doing it. I can't lug around more than 20 ore without being weighted down. If I'm using a pack horse, I can't transfer the ore to my backpack without it saying: "It's full". It's like no win situation for me. Last edited by Bobo; 6th February 2008 at 08:19 PM. |

Re: Question about Mining
What shard are you on, if I may ask?
As far as for smelting, just drop it on the ground next to the forge you're going to use and smelt from the ground, ingots go in your pack.

Re: Question about Mining
Well, there's not that much of double clicking involved.
Here is our first steps guide to miner/smith : http://haven.uosites.com/index.php?o...d=83&Itemid=26 You can create in-game macros to make it easier. Also you can use strip-mining, drop the Iron ore to a stack at your feet and move the stack along with you. You can also make some gold to pay yourself a Fire Beetle and smelt on the fly as you mine. That should make your mining much faster. Hope it helps!

Re: Question about Mining
With the "mine-by-resource" macro in KR (don't know which client you're using) there's even less clicking to be done. Also you can repeat the macro up to 10 times. So it's one keystroke for ten swings with your pickaxe. And if you got a smith - use that iron to fill the low end bods and get yourself stury pickaxes and shovels - they're much more durable.

Re: Question about Mining
I got a fire bettle and packy bonded to my miner so he can smelt and store as he goes. I used minoc and all around the "rock" edge of umbra for my miner to gain. I did sevral hours for a few days and after about 4 days he was gmd. When u start pulling higher ores smelt them by "2"s it will also help boost mining up.
