The origin of the term "Peon" according to me.

Before they had the names for the units for Warcraft, the folks working at Blizzard were frequently browsing porn on the job (and smoking weed, which explains the colourful and weird outfits those orcs wear!). When typing pron instead of porn, some employee accidentally typed an "e" instead of an "r". Thinking that new word looked cool, it stuck and became the first new rank.

He posted this on a notice board and the first reply to this by another employee was the emote *Grunt* and that is how the second rank was born.

After this, all emotes and roleplay and porn were outlawed at Blizzard,which is why WoW is such a crap game for roleplaying!
