Re: Searching for a good game

Ms Molly Dudette, how are you doing?.... hehe...

Well, if you don't mind an oldsourpuss like me giving you advice... I'll see if I can stear you in the right direction... get ready to make alota dicisions... Don't let me scare you none... hehe...

Which game did you buy? 9th anniversery or Mondains leagend? 9th anny has all the expansions... and both came with whats called "the 2d client", its the interface you use to play with... a 3rd party program you can buy in addition is UOassist at tugsoft.com, and it gives alot of functions to UOs 2d client... and the EAM(electronic arts/Mythic entertainment) free replacement client is "Kingdom Reborn", you can download it from uo.com....

Choose your chr... Humans have more strength, so they can carry more and have higher HPs.... Elves are one with nature and can gather more effectively and have constent "nightsight"...

You can choose a templete or use Custom, and just pick three skills... each skill you pick, will also give you the ascociated tool, Archery gives a Bow, Tailoring give a sewing kit, Healing give Bandages, etc... You have 6 open chr slots on each shard so go experiment... have to wait 7 days to delete a chr though...

A GM(grand master) skill is 100pts, and you have 700pts to go around... so basicly you can have 7 skills, you decide... can only choose 3 at creation... So try...

Tailoring, Fencing and Healing... and manualy set your str=50, Dex=10, Int=10, you need HPs & carrying capacity if you want to craft... you need to go into your skills page and set all to "locked", then choose the 7 you want to train in...

You start with 1000 gold which isn't very much, so either buy a Horse(689gp) or buy 30 pts in animal taiming(256gp) or swap taiming for healing at creation... no matter what get a horse... and some apples to feed him/her, name him/her whatever you want...

You'll start in "Haven", the newbie town, and you'll have "young status" for like 14 days... which means, Monsters who would normally attack you, don't... unless you attack them 1st...

as far as skills go, try...

-Fencing(fast weapon speed)...
-Tactics(secondary to all combat skills)...
-Anatomy(bonuses to both combat/healing skills)...
-Healing...
-Tailoring...
-Arms Lore(secondary to Tailoring)...
-Magery(optional)...

In Haven, you will find trainers for all of these, and you can buy up to about 30 pts from the guild masters of these skills... about 28pts from everyone else... To train Fencing/Tactics to about 22pts at a "training dumby" in training halls for free....

-Begging, is an actual skill, you must train to be good... hehe...

I would try killing animals like birds, pigs, goats... moving up to Wolves and Bears... Use your dagger to harvest meat/hides/feathers... Use your Tailoring to make leather products to sell to the NPCs(non-playing chrs) for gold... and cooks buy the meat, and fletchers the feathers... any other junk can be sold to provisioners... If you see any sheep around you can either kill'm for dirty wool or just harvest the wool by using your dagger on them instead of attacking them... use the wool on a spinning wheel to make yarn, to use on the loom to make cloth, to make more bandages out of or to tailor with...

About Trammel/Fellucca... Well, Trammel is the "consetual" PvP (Player v Player) facet, Guilds & Factions can attack each other freely... and Fellucca is "freeforall" PvP area, basicly if your caught outside of Guard zones, any player CAN attack you, IF they choose too... I would say "if their name is red, look out... everyone else be suspiciouse, they're probly stealing you blind"...

Back in Haven find your Bank box and put anything in there you don't want to loose... If you die, get back to your body or you loose all your carrying to decay (2mins until your body turns to bones, another 2mins its gone)...

Lotsa Quests to do in Haven, do them all, its a good way to train...

IMO, crafting is a wonderful waste of time... everything you make is vurtualy worthless to another player... after you hit 70 in Tailoring, the NPCs in the game start offering you BoDs (bulk order deeds) and when you fill the BoD and turn it in you get some gold, and generally worthless special colored cloths... If you happen to Hit the UO Lottery and get a high end BoD... and then Hit the UO Lottery again to receive the "Runic sewing kit" you desire, once you fill the BoD... I would say as a fellow tailor, sell the thing for the going rate 3.5 million gold last time I looked.... Don't bother ever using it...

and you'll be so bussy playing the "Heartwood" Lotteries for special recipes to tailor realy good stuff... and playing the resource/special ingredients gathering Lotteries... You realy won't have much time to actually Craft...

I've been playing the AoS (age of shadows expansion) Lotteries for what, 5-6 years now... and haven't won a darn thing....

I retired my crafters and started a Necro/Mage for PvM (player v monster), which is pretty fun and powerful chr...

-Necromancy...
-Magery...
-Evaluate Inteligence...
-Resisting magic...
-Spirit speak...
-Meditation...

and Necromancy, is more powerfull if your karma is at its lowest dasterdly, Dread Lord/Lady... in order to lower it, I did "escorting" of NPCs... at first, for the gold they give you, and then others I would Kill for the Karma loss... Once my Karma was at its lowest, goto any shrine and "Lock" your Karma, by clicking the Ank...

It will be awhile before you get here....
