If you're trying to gain Parry, you will need to do everything possible to get hit.
Training Theory In the melee caclualtion, your chance to parry is calcualted AFTER the opponenets chance to hit. Therefore, you want to less your weapon skill and Defense Chance Increase, so you get hit more. There are two main skill relations to consider. WITH Bushido, WITHOUT Bushido. Since Bushido gives a bonus to parry, it is have your Bushido as high as possible before you train parry. You also want to use a two handed weapon for a slightly higher parry chance. Without Bushido, you want a buckler. Best bet is NO weapon. The METHOD Put on a weapon you have 0 skill in (no ubws either). Make sure you dont have any DCI Items. Divine Fury works great, as it lowers your defense chance. Sheep took me to 110 and 100 recently. Alternatively, you can disarm the Jheom fighters and use them. Hint I buy NPC armor (chainmail seems to have higher Physical resist I think) and just let it wear down, or you could go naked and take slightly higher damage.

Re: Training Parry guide
All good advice
with sheep i have got to 120 from 0 and with fighters got to 120 from 0 both in a day With sheep just put on stuff that Has High phyisical and self repair then use not a shield but as told oppisite of what you using so if swords or fencing or even wrestling use a mace and cov club is self repair 3 and another thing that dont break so easy to use and works very well.... side note if your macing just use sword my pick is the holy one since it is self repair 10 and never breaks heh With fighters dont use any shields you can but it is slower just use same mace as I told ya and it will not break and you will gain goto trainer though since if start at 0 you will stop at 25 skills so best to gain more so you can 100 to 120 that skill same with almost any skills you should train it first... hope this helps Last edited by Macdaddy; 12th October 2007 at 09:38 PM. |

Re: Training Parry guide
wouldnt it be good to just draw like 2-3 mosters who hit poor damage on you and just go to peace mode? that way they hit you but you dont, and all you have to do is use your healing skill... anyways please tell me if my trick would be good please!

Re: Training Parry guide
Aye, lemon is correct. Here is a screenie of me training parry today.
I like sheep especially because of the low end damage. this allows you to skill up without any armor on. Very important if you do not want to break your armor. Durability gets lost FAST with this many hitting you. Note that I am using a mace. This helps you gain faster, as DiP stated, because the combat calculation checks weapon skill first for defense, then your parry skill. If you deflect a blow with your weapon, your parry never gets checked. You cannot see it in this shot (or any of the dozens i took trying to show it), but I am actually standing on one sheep, with the rest around me (in the fields to the south of new haven). ![]()

Re: Training Parry guide
On another note, I noticed something today while training parry.
1) When my main wep skill is equipped (Swords) I get hit alot less *duh* 2) When I equip a non-swords, I get hit more and parry more *duh* 3) When I equip nothing, I do not parry, but I get hit less than with a non-swords weapon equipped (HUH?) 4) When I equip a bloodspirit talisman, with a mace weapon, I get hit MUCH less (HUH?) 5) When I equip a bloodspirit talisman with empty hands, I get hit even less than just empty hands. I ran these test for 20 minutes. WEIRD. Any inputs (this is an elf, so no, it is not JOAT taking effect).

Re: Training Parry guide
Go to Jhelom pits and gather about 8-10 Female npc fighters who are unarmed, or disarm them. Use a weapon that you have no skill in, for swords I buy a couple of npc long spears. Attack all the fighters then go into peace mode. I usually buy parry in Haven and go from 40-110 (or 120) in a few hours this way, also once you hit 100 parry you can usually max out your str & dex going from 100-110 in parry. The benefit to this method is you do not take any damage from female fighters and it boosts your stats quick.

Re: Training Parry guide
I am going to finish parrying this weekend or atleast try. I do have bushido. Does having bushido affects the gainning process with the sheep? SHould I use a one handed weapon and a shield?

Re: Training Parry guide
I'd go with stoning Bushido off until Parry is where you want it to be if possible.
