2007: Magincia Invasion

Hail my friends!

I dont think I have announce about the on coming threat to our lands, rumors seem to have generated the buzz all by its lonesome.

I do however want to ask the mayors and council of each town to be prepared for refugees if any would to stray our way if/when the invasion hits the city of Maginca. Also, please double check your first aid supplies and restock if possible.

I am asking that each town donate one warship and dock it in Skara so that when the time comes we may be ready to aid the town of Maginca. I also suggest that Each town name their warship so that Paxlair members know it is a paxlair ship. I will be docking a Dragons Watch naval ship sometime this morning.

As the invasion draws near I will have Valmeer out scouting for good landing zones in and out of Maginca and if possible will set up a war room somewere inside the paxlair statehood so that the proper meetings can take place.

In closing I ask that all townships place your military on stand by, I fear that soon we will be marching to the drums of war...

(OOC, we will use this thread to share tactics and set up attacks on the invaders of Maginca, also can each mayor and military coiuncils give me a good time to meet? I would like to do so Tues or wed)

I'm very glad to see preparations be being made for this impending invasion in Magincia. Word is that we MUST succeed in the task ahead.

Personally, I do not plan to consolidate or lead any aspects of the defense (like I have done a few times in the past). But, it is very important that leaders step forward to organize, equip, and keep tactics and knowledge consolidated for everyone.

Here's what we did many moons ago to help keep everyone informed, so I suggest this be a successful example of how things can be done for the upcoming battle. ( Void Shadow War consolidated information )

[OOC - I suggest the consolidated information for the upcoming battle be placed on a thread on the UOForums Chesapeake Forum - moderators/admins can sticky the consolidation thread - will need a "consolidation" leader to start the thread there.

There is also discussion already underway on the UOStratics Chesapeake Forum, so need to consolidate information from there too. We will likely use both UOForums and Stratics to keep everyone together and informed.]

Scouting report

I wanted to give everyone a quick update.

It looks as if this will not be a solo attempt by deamons to invade Maginca. Along with the Deamon invaders there will be your run of the mill undead such as, Skeletons, Bone knights, mummys, rotting corpes and Lich lords.

It also looks like the deamon force is bringing in others of their kind, Arcane Deamons, Choas Deamons and a white deamon called a light deamon. The light Deamon is very tough.

To top all that off it seems we will also face bone crushers and you guessed it, the big boys themselves. Darkfathers.


More info to come as it is handed to me.

Just one more update.

I had stated earlier that we should harbor our war ships in Skara, this reason being in the past we chose to use skara as a community town.

After looking over my maps I think it best for stragey sake if we bring our warships to port at Buc's Den, the sailing distance is as far.

A base of operations out of Bucs Den would be most interesting!

[OOC: was there some information about an easy way to get to Magincia without a boat? If that is the case, we "could" need split HQs locations to advise people what is happening BEFORE they get to Magincia and get clomped. Or... might there be a safe HQs location (forward field location) on Magincia that can be set up to keep everyone resupplied and informed of whatever teams need to go into battle during a time-phased battle stategy?]

There are a fleet of ships leaving the Trinsic Port daily for Magincia. I assume most people heading toward the Invasion will use that route. An alternate HQ could be near the docks in Trinsic. Perhaps dock a boat there of our own with supplies before people cross over to the Invasion.

I am told the ships leaving port there are extremely swift, so crossing back and forth from the Invasion seems to be an easy enough task. A pre-battle post of activities from that port may prove invaluable to people entering Magincia.

I have been walking through the city often and looking it over. I have found a few spots we can use as rally points which would be a good to regroup and get ready for the next battle. Most of the spots are in upstairs buildings which are big enough to hold a small force and have stairways that will be easy to defend.

What I like about using the navy ships is that I think in the first few waves they will not be exactly inside the city, we can use ships to attack from the west, sailing out of Buc's and not have to move ground forces so far in country away from safe LZ's. Also with ships you can provide cover fire with Archers and mages so that your ground forces can set up a solid foramtion and control the rate of spawn it attacks.

Excellent reports Xavier and CK.

I sort of thought there'd be a rapid deployment sailing lane (Trinsic Port) and also a need for fleet support for larger unified forces.

I remember in the Ophidian Wars in Papua that our archers and mages on ships were quickly boarded by the enemy if our warriors attacked from the ships. That might be something to watch out for.

Good field HQs locations are pretty vital -- a place to rest, re-supply, keep everyone informed and be mended by the healers.

Aye, with a ground team keeping their focus our mages and archers should be ok from the mass target. But it is imnportant that the ground units work as a team and not take on to much

Something else that was brought to my attention last night at a Council meeting, was that the ships and City structures will all be susceptible to attack. Meaning, boats shall burn, and City walls shall crumble and fall under the weight of the onslaught.

Perhaps if there is a crew aboard our ships...(the archers you have spoke of CK should suffice), then our vessels may be secure. If the reports are true as to the devastation their forces propose, taking refuge in the Magincia buildings may be risky.

We shall just have to see how the battle unfolds. I like the ideas you have proposed CK. Having a solid plan at the onset is always the best way to approach things. If the reports I've received hold true though, we should also have a plan "B" so to speak.

Rest assure good plans always go wrong! Fate always plays its hand last it seems. In the begining is mass confusion and then once people realize they cant go into battle head first it will settle down.

The building I have scouted can be accessed from all sides and the upstairs room is easy to defend. its also a straight shoot from the lz in the docks. In the end though all ther plans in the world can not help us if we dont work as a team, that is the main goal.

I could care less for people who want to play heros and get everyone killed. Team work is the key.
