Are Necro Mages a good temp for pvp?

I currently have:
115 mage
115 eval
115 med
95 necro
90 ss
110 resist

what should I change/ add/ get rid of?

1st try at a PvP char, so any input will help.

Do you like playing a mage? Necro/Mage can be a great template for PvP but you really have to like/have a knack for spellcasting to play one well.

Re: Are Necro Mages a good temp for pvp?

Been playing a bard mage for past 4 years. I have some pretty decent spell casting ability. I am sure the PvM experience will not transfer well to PvP.
Never used a necro before though. Just training.
Um, the first creature I tried to fight with just pure necro was a sand vortex and it killed me. Then I tried to fight a summoned earth ele and it killed me. So, at necro, not so good.

Use necro to support your magery spells grizz. Pain strike, Evil omen, corpse skin, wither and strangle are some of my favorites. I rarely try to rely solely on necro spells for a kill unless I'm in wraith form casting wither in spawns. A corpse skin followed by explosion and flamestrike is a thing of beauty.

Re: Are Necro Mages a good temp for pvp?

Oh, furthermore, I have two necro mages. The first is:

120 Mage
120 Eval
120 Med
120 Resist
120 Necro
120 Spirit

The second is:
120 Necro
120 Spirit
120 Med
115 Eval
115 Mage
115 Eval

I will get this character higher, but he needs to earn some gold first lol. For Necro, it really helps to have SS as high as possible as SS is basically the eval for necromancy...the higher the more damage you'll get on necro spells. I would at least take the two to 115 if you can't afford a 120 scroll for either right now. You definately see a damage increase with higher Necro and SS levels. If you can afford a 120 SS, buy it, and move Necro to 115. Just remember that a necromage is pretty much an offensive character, as your defensive abilities are more limited, so you'll need to adjust your play style accordingly. No more peacing them then blasting them hehe.

Re: Are Necro Mages a good temp for pvp?

I didn't know where to post this, hopefully this is in the right spot; it is a Necro Mage...sort of keh keh.

I play on Siege Perilous and need a template that can pvp as well as pawn any monster (Pets/R-beetles instadeath on Exodus Minions).

This is the template I am thinking of creating:

Female CU riding Elf just because UO favors pointy eared women (sexism I Know).

120 Taming
120 Lore
100 Vet (Swap for Weaver and use Gift of Life on Pet as CU heals its self? ? ?) (Virtue to rez self if needed)
120 Necro (More powerful revenant)
120 SS
120 Magery (God Willing)(Could also swap for weaver & have zero Defense...I prefer that my pet is the 2nd attacker though.

This is how it comes together: Swords of Prosper for weapon skill:
I get 8 control slots and I am not sure if you can have more than one revenant out at one time or how many control slots they take up. I am guessing that they take 3 controll slots...

As soon as you hear foots steps or (a) horse(s) precast Revenant (wear LMC) while they are casting dispell I cast strangle and prep painspike. If/when they kill/dispell the Revenant I cast Oath then Evil Omen. Then run the following macro: Teleport, Wait for target,Wait 1 second (for dismount), All kill, Last target.

The goal is to be so offencive that your attacker isn't able to take advantage of your short comings (Only 1 way to heal, No Resists, etc)

Your imput is more than welcome (remember that I am on Siege when giving advise ;)
