Loving to explore I headed to yet another town of Britianna named Vesper. The large stone city beam of riches. Upon my traveling in the town I ran into one of the most interesting people so I interviewed him.

How long have you played Ultima Online?
8 years in November.

What is one of your best memories from playing UO?
I have always played solo, but have to admit the most fun I have ever had with UO was a player ran event a couple years ago on Siege Perilous. It had a great turn out. Was fun, exciting & fun!!

So what is it that keeps you playing UO?
The game play! My very first game I played on a computer was Ultima. Thus when I heard about UO, I was hooked before I even installed it.

What makes Ultima better then those others MMORPGs?
I've tried WOW and they have great graphics, but the player interaction & game play was not up to the level of UO. I never refer to UO as a game. It's an experience.

How long have you played on Siege Perilous?
About a year into playing UO, I tried playing Siege after playing Napa Valley. After a month or two on Siege, I found I had no desire to play Napa or any production shard. I love the rule set of Siege. The player base is much more fun to work with & it's a very tight community compared to other shards. I guess I fall into that old phrase, "Once ya play Siege, you'll never go back!!"

What interested you into joining Siege?
There is a rush of farming on Siege and being worried about PKs showing up, but I can see that PvP might be a lot of fun.

What do you think of Siege Perilous' gain system RoT(rate over time)?
I really like ROT from a skills stand point. You gotta earn skills on Siege. No over night GMs running around. I think that might be part of why you see people come to Siege & stay. You spend the time to create a solid character and you don't want to leave it.

What do you think of factions on Siege?
I find them very interesting. I will go with my stealther & watch the different factions work the sigils and such. VERY surprising how factions will have different guilds in the same faction. Normally the guilds are out clashing with each other, but in these instances they work together. VERY cool to see.

BUT, factions seem to be losing their flare so to say. Don't see the factions having the activity they used to. I hope that EA makes some changes to factions to get that flare back in them.

How many accounts do you have active?
I used to have over 15. Down to 9 now. I have a house on most shards to hold resources. My main account has 6 grand fathered houses on it. Would love to have all the houses on it.

What got you into starting up cybernickel.com?
I actually started cybernickel back in 1995. Very early days of the world wide web. I set it up to do classifieds for my home town and it was the base to my web design business. I created uo.cybernickel.com in 2000 after I got hooked on UO. Had one of my employees show me eBay & UO items and I thought it would be fun to try. It's a hobby that takes me away from the day to day fun of my job. I have several good friends that do the full time job of working UO.

How do you guys manage to have so much gold and resources for sale?
I farm mostly on Siege myself, but still rely on others to keep stocks available. I have several suppliers that rely mostly on. There is no way to collect all the different items that are requested. Mostly I swap out game time codes for stuff. Gold I really on game time code's for roughly 75% of needs. Other 25% I purchase and resell.

What is your opinion on eBay banning virtual item sales?
At the time I thought it sucked and my hobby was gone. But now after 8 months I find things are better than before. I find that the big brokers are doing better now then they did with eBay but eBay did allow those starting a easy way to get their items out there for many to see and generate a customer base.

The large brokers, Markee, UOTreasures & UOResources say they are doing better than before. Just rough for those starting out..

What type of character do you like to play best?
I love my tamer, but solely from a farming stand point. I have started playing with a mage/stealther char lately. A lot of fun!! Didn't do anything with stealthing until about a year ago. Now most of my characters have it. TONs of fun to walk around and watch the different activities on Siege!! Without getting myself into trouble and taking away the fun, I admit it is fun to watch groups PvP. Walk along stealth, it's very fun. Plus they never know I'm there but ya never know when I might get revealed.

Have you tried Kingdom Reborn yet and what do you think about it?
Well, not yet. I love the 2D client. I have downloaded KR but yet to actually try it out. I need to. I read the comments on the boards about it and there are many positive & negative ones. But I am a creature of habit. I hate to change at times. I guess that is one reason I didn't enjoy WOW as much. Tough to keep the camera view like ya have with UO 2d.

What things would you change in UO if you could?
First, remove transfers - Siege is proof that ya don't need em.
Second, I'd love to be back in pre-AoS days. I prefer non item based game play.
Third, update and improve faction game play.

What do you think EA should be doing with UO?
I love the new lands and dungeons and variety it brings. But I think they need to do some enhancing of the old worlds. I think there needs to be some improvement to the AI of creatures & monsters. Would love to see arties become just that, arties. Make them harder to get. If UO is gonna be a item based game, make those "super" items harder to get. EA has to overhaul crafting and bring back the value of being a crafter to the game. Would bring back alot of customer base I believe.
