[Journal] Tim's Tales

[OOC] I used to keep one of these, for Tim, in the past so I shall start one again. Sometimes Tim will write an entry and other times it will just be narrated. Please remember that any information you read here is OOC knowledge, unless you were there yourself, or you learned about it in game. Please feel free to get involved with anything that Tim gets up to. Send me a pm if you want to meet up with him ingame for any reason.

Saturday 22nd September

Tim awoke and sat up on the polar bear rug that he had used as a bed. Yawning, he stretched and slowly stood up. He caught a glimpse of his arm and the memory of last night returned. Standing silently, he stared at his blue skin. Much had happened last night. Changes had occured and not just to him. But had he been the cause?

Muldran had resigned from the Shadow Court. He said he had new responsibilities and did not have the time for Court matters. He was Tim's guardian and he wanted to make a good job of it. Thats what he said. Guilt flooded through Tim. It WAS his fault! The rest of the Court would blame him and his pointy ears! Gorthyn and Decardo already thought he was not worth wasting time on... what would they think now?

Muldran had told the courtiers present to take a couple of days to think about who to choose as the new Shadow King. Tim frowned. There can be no other Shadow King and he had to make Muldran see that! He had to make things right...somehow!

'e dun 'alf come out wit strange fings. He suddenly said "37" ter me when we wus lookin' 'round thar place. 37 is one of them rare numbers wha' ent much use fer anyfing. I wunder why 'e keeps sayin' it. Thar be a mystery thar sum 'ow.

It seems strange bein' an elf. I fink I is gunna need time ter get used ter it. Strange fing I did notice wus I didnt really feel thar cold on me feet. Walkin' through all tha' snow me feet seemed ter stay dry. Guess I 'as lots ter lern abou' bein' an elf.

Re: [Journal] Tim's Tales

Monday 24th September

Tim sat on the steps of the small hut and mulled over what he had learned late last night. Why hadn't Muldran told Tim about the meeting? Had it been deliberate? Without really thinking Tim reached into his pocket and pulled out a sprig of nightshade. Was there a reason Muldran did not want Tim there? He hunted around for his pipe, pulling out all the odds and ends in his bag in the process. Of course! He did not *want Tim* to interfere with his decision to resign as Shadow King! Tim had made no bones about letting Muldran know he was making a mistake. That was it! Anger welled up inside of him. Tim had always been quick to loose his temper. Many times in the past it had landed him in trouble and this time was no different. Thrusting his hand into his bag he sliced it deeply on his dagger.

"Bloody 'ell!" Tim pressed his other hand over the cut and spotted a bandage lying on the ground from his search for the pipe. Quickly grabbing it he wrapped it tightly around his left hand. With a sigh he spotted his pipe and filled it with shade and settled back against the door of the hut to smoke. The anger, so quick to arrived, dissipated and was replaced with uncertainty and worry. There was so much change happening... to him... to the Court...Drawing deeply on his pipe he allowed the shade to lift him away from all these concerns.

Re: [Journal] Tim's Tales

Tuesday 25th September

With a sigh, Tim tore off the white shirt he was wearing and laid it out on the floor of the small hut. Pulling out his dagger he started to unpick the seams of the shirt.

"Gah.. this ent easy. I wunder 'ow Miss Sally dus these fings? Bloody...stupid... Grrrrr!" Suddenly the stiches parted and the dagger ripped through the cloth.. further than Tim had intended! With irritation he threw the dagger at the wall where it landed with a loud "thunk", quivering noisily for a few seconds. Picking up the shirt he gripped it firmly and tore along the already begun cut.

Tim continued tearing along the seams getting more and more frustrated as the tears did not go the way he wanted. The end result was a ragged, almost square bit of white cloth. Tim picked it up and placed it over his head, trying to wrap it around his ears to make a sort of cap. Many minutes passed, but finally Tim's patience snapped and he threw the shirt remains in the same direction his dagger had taken.

Throwing himself down into the corner he folded his arms and looked around the room sullenly. Cobwebs decorated the corners of the room and the only furnishing was a brown chest. There was a layer of dust over the chest, apart from an area on the lid where Tim had leaned while he had attempted to open it the other night. He quickly looked away from it, but curiosity and need drew his eyes back.

He remained where he was but his mind was working overtime...

Thar mebe summat in thar tha' culd 'ide me ears. It dunt look loik anyone 'as lived 'ere fer years an' I am sure they wuld let me borrow an 'at. If I culd jest ease thar lid open wit out doin' much damage. I culd borrow summat, an' I 'as got some coins I culd leave ter cover any damage I make, an' I am sure Mister Moldum wuld understand, I ent gunna *steal* it..jest borrow......

After a long time he slowly stood and went over to the chest. Pulling out his wood axe, he carefully pushed the blade edge between the lock hasp and the chest and slowly exerted some pressure.

With a snap the hasp sprung open and Tim eagerly lifted the lid. A strong mustly smell emanated from the chest and Tim coughed and turned away to gasp a lungful of fresh air. Throwing the lid wide open he stood back to allow the stale air to dissipate. After a minute or two he peered inside and his shoulders slumped in disappointment. Most of the contents seemed to have crumbled to dust. They looked to have been scrolls and papers. Running his hand gently over the scrolls he watched them slowly complete their transformation to dust.

Something green, in the corner of the chest caught his eye. Reaching over he tugged it free and grinned! Just what he had been looking for.. a hooded robe. Shaking off the dust he quickly slipped it over his head. At last.. he had found something to hide his ears and most of his skin.

Closing the chest, he walked over to the wall and tugged his dagger free. It was time to explore further afield.

Re: [Journal] Tim's Tales

Thursday 27th September

I did more explorin' yesterday an' meetin' thar folk around 'ere. I walked out from Rowvanyun an' 'eaded souf, followin' thar rock wall. It wus nice walkin' bare foot through thar grass. I dunt understand why thar snow is only round Rowv. I must arsk Mister Moldum when I sees 'im.

I found a small cave an' poked me 'ead in ter explore it an' ended up meetin' a miner called Stanach. 'e 'ad a beetle wha' wus red 'ot ter touch. Stanach said thar beetle wus 'ot enuf ter smelt ore. When I reached out me 'and ter it I culd feel thar 'eat! Then thar beetle decided ter investigate me. I fort 'e wus gunna fry me bu' luckily Stanach called 'im back!

It turns out tha' this Stanach 'as a shop an' 'e took me ter see it. It is real close ter Rowv an' 'e sells arras an' stuff thar so I must remember it. I took 'im ter see a bit of Rowv in return then 'e went orf mining agin.

I wus jest abou' ter 'ead orf out agin meself when this old fella suddenly appears from one of them big 'ouses. Afore I culd greet 'im, one of them ice snakes sneaked up an' began ter bite 'im. Afore I culd kill wit an arra, thar snake 'ad poisoned 'im or summat cus suddenly thar man fell ter thar ground. I wus bending down over 'im when Miss Cherry appeared. It looked real bad, wha' wit me standin' over thar man wit me bow in me 'and. I fink Miss Cherry fort I 'ad shot 'im.

Then Lord Dekhard arrived an' believed thar worse o' me! I culd tell by thar way 'e kept eyein' me! Any'ow luckily thar man recovered an' sat up. Bu' wuld yer believe it? Lord Dekhard actually went to look ter see if thar wus any arra injuries!! Guess thems dunt trust me.

Thar old man wus a bit of a talker. Blimey! 'e talked so fast yer ne'er 'ad a chance ter object ter anyfing an' afore we knew it we wus carryin' fings fer 'im. I did manage ter arsk 'im abou' thar little 'ut I wus stayin' in bu' 'e dint know thar owner an' suggested I jest left a note fer sum fella wha' owns thar land. Dint catch 'is name tho so can't do much on tha' jest yet. The old fella wus called 'awksmire an' 'e 'as arsked me ter be caretaker of 'is 'ouse. Ter watch out fer looters an' such. Kinda 'andy as thar 'ut I wus stayin' in lies roit next door ter 'im.

After folk 'ad wandered orf I decided ter go back an' travel sum more. Stanach 'ad given me directions ter thar moongate as I 'ad a 'ankerin' ter visit Trinsic an' mebe see 'is Grays, thar Duke thar.

It wus a roit trek ter thar moongate bu' I saw a lot of intrestin' fings on thar way. I wus cautious approachin' thar gates of Trinsic cus I knew no body wus gonna believe it wus me. Not wit me lookin' as I dus now.. assumin' thar wus folk as remembered me o' course. I culd see a few people by thar gate bu'I pulled me hood down and went ter enter. Tha's when this person stopped me. Reckon she wus a guard by thar questions she arsked. Bloody well wuldn't let me in ter Trinsic cus I wus wearin' a hood an' supposedly lookin' suspicious. I tol' 'er I wus wantin' ter see 'is Grays. After a while 'er went ter see if 'is Grays wus thar bu' she said 'e wusnt so I gave up an' left. Will 'ave ter visit anuver day. Mebe next time I will jest sneak past them guards.

Re: [Journal] Tim's Tales

Friday 28th September

The keg did not seem to have an owner. After a search around the area and no sign of anyone he concluded that it was not wanted. He had no idea what was in it or why it was painted a lurid purple, but he could turn it into a seat of some sort so he pushed/rolled it back to the little hut.

Setting it upright on the floor he searched for a way to open it. It was definately full of some sort of liquid and he was keen to find out what. He could see no sign of a tap so he decided to split the lid with his axe.

The lid split and liquid sloshed over the edge and onto the floor. Leaning over to sniff it he pulled a face. It smelt like some sort of cleaning liquid, but if he emptied it out he could make a seat from the empty keg. He needed to find a place to empty it but that could wait till later.

Sitting cross-legged on the floor he pulled out his pipe and filled it with shade. Looking around the small hut he was pleased to see the things he had already managed to collect. Holding his flint near his pipe he struck a few large sparks in an attempt to light the shade. One spark fell to the floor..into the liquid....

The resulting explosion was so fierce that Tim was thrown backwards through the door. He landed flat on his back outside in the snow. Not a lot was left of the little hut!

Re: [Journal] Tim's Tales

Monday 1st October

Having successfully kept himself hidden for a day, Tim began to get restless. For a start he was hungry! He rummaged around in his back pack, searching for anything to eat. Tipping the bag up onto the floor he sifted through the items. No food, but he did rediscover his disguise kit. Holding the kit in his hand he smiled as he remembered his early days in Vesper, where he had needed to steal food to stay alive. He had been given this kit and been instructed by the local thieves as to its use. Hard times, but he had learned some useful skills. Opening the kit, an idea came to him. Grinning he began to change his appearance.

Some time later, he looked at his reflection in the water of the fountain. Not the best of mirrors but it sufficed and he nodded, pleased with the result. He just needed to ruffle up his hair now and that would hide his ears. A name... he needed a name. He would think of a good one later. He would be a hunter from Vesper!

He unpacked the leather armour he had not worn in ages and slipped into it. The gloves neatly hid his hands which could have given him away. Time to find food! He felt confident that no one would recognise him, especially if he did not talk too much.

Walking out from the tower he was relieved to note that his hearing was beginning to return. The rushing sound was more distant and he could almost hear the birds singing as he walked out from Rhovanion.
