Anyone up for a Challenge?

[OOC]

I'm looking for other players interested in the challenge of RP'ing/running a char using only GM crafted gear, no arties, no insurance, no jewelry,...its actually a pretty good list of what wouldn't be used!

The reason for this is a friend of mine gave me a link to a Europa RP'ing guild and I've spent alot of time recently checking out guilds over there and have seen the popularity of running just GM gear, and frankly I am getting bored with how "convenient" UO has become.

Now I'm Not suggesting everyone toss all their great gear in the trash, just seeing if anyone else would be interested in running ONE char like this. Its challenging, but its also alot of fun, or it has been for me anyways.

I haven't been using recall/sacred journey either....I walk or ride everywhere and use moongates, and I've seen alot of stuff I had forgetten was even in game...heck even found some stuff I hadn't seen before.

If anyone is interested give me a shout here, or look for me at night around Cove!

Thanks!

Re: Anyone up for a Challenge?

hhmmm, seems like there is a place already made for you to try.

Siege Perilous, no insurance, no recall, you only wear what you can afford to lose.
Makes life a bit interesting!!

Re: Anyone up for a Challenge?

Aye Silverfoot, Seige could eventually be an option. But I'd like to try and liven up Chessy instead of leave it for another shard...I guess I just been here to long, it's me home.

This idea Is to offer a challenge, but also to encourage player interaction. Suddenly with GM gear simple stuff ain't so simple anymore, plus now I need a blacksmith to make me some armor and/or do some repairs for me.

Like I said before I'm not trying to start a revolution, just figured people may be getting bored of doing a peerless for the millionth time, or spending hours putting a suit together, etc....and may want to try something different *shrugs*.

I just like how Europa does there RP'ing using CoRE rules and thought I'd see if anyone else around here wanted to give it a go.

Peace

Good luck Kegan. I hope Chessy meets up to your expectations. It would be good to hear about an active RP community on Chessy.

Re: Anyone up for a Challenge?

Thanks Vepl, I think I'm gonna need all the luck I can get!

Chessy does have some really Great role-players already, mostly from the Paxlair Statehood. I hope to get to interact with them at some point.

No disrespect intended towards any existing RP'ers on Chessy, I'd just like to try something a little different, and I'm basically just looking to see if anyone else has an interest!

Thanks!

Re: Anyone up for a Challenge?

Kegan,

You have an excellent idea!! And the timing, I believe, is perfect to get this going on Chesapeake.

Coincidentally, I appointed a new Minister of Defense (Crypt Keeper) a few weeks ago for the PaxLair Statehood. His role, both within PaxLair and throughout the Shard as appropriate, is a strategist for combat situations and to even help build armies. He will also help PaxLair and Chesapeake respond to "Call to Arms" episodes for [Live] events. The Minister of Defense is primarily for [role-playing] and team-building purposes.

Also coincidentally, I appointed a PaxLair Statehood Quartermaster (Eoin Smithson) last night at our weekly PaxLair meeting. The Quartermaster is mainly involved in crafting various armour, weapons, and supplies for combat and adventure forces. He also is establishing one or more re-supply locations in cities and during combat in the field.

Finally, and very coincidentally in timing, I have been looking at Europa and how they approach [role-played] combat situations between small and large armies on a non-Siege shard. I have seen their "rules of RP combat" and am impressed.

I am not saying PaxLair Statehood is by any means a be-all, end-all to what you propose, and what you propose should be Chesapeake Shard-wide in nature. That WOULD be fantastic. I strongly believe synergies are developing between like-minded people who want to "take our [gaming experience] a few levels above the [mechanics]." *smiles*

Please reach Crypt Keeper and Eoin Smithson, and I'd welcome you as a guest speaker at our next or future Tuesday night PaxLair Statehood meeting.

Sincerely,
Winfield, Governor of PaxLair Statehood

Re: Anyone up for a Challenge?

Understood Kegan. I'm actually playing a bit more on Ches and LA instead of Siege. I've never updated my chars on CHes having spent most of the last 5 years on Siege, so my outfit is still mostly GM stuff. I'm also going to be more involved with Paxlair, I hope to run into you at the Paxlair Stathood meeting. That's a great invitation from Govenor Winfield.

Re: Anyone up for a Challenge?

Thanks Winfield, It's relieving to know others are thinking along this line as well. I'd love the oppurtunity to compare notes with you on Europa, either here or via a pm....that goes for anyone who is interested!

I'd like to keep ooc discusions here though, so I don't know how good of a guest speaker I would be. But I would jump at the oppurtunity to meet some other rp'ers....maybe I can make a deal with your Quartermaster in regards to equipment & repairs? (no repair deeds for me either I'm afraid). Your meetings are on Tuesdays? I don't think I can make next week's but maybe the week after that?

I hope we get the chance to discuss this more in-depth, and I look forward to seeing you and Silverfoot at one of your meetings soon!

Thank You, your post has been most encouraging!

-Kegan

*Already walks around in GM armor on his Fencer*

Also I just changed Gareth out of his Lrc so he could dress better as mayor and switched to the gold old Reg pack like in the old days.

Re: Anyone up for a Challenge?

Well, if I weren't such a woos, I might take you up on that. But I get killed far too often as it is. :]

But if you're ever up for any exploring... I'd be into that. I used to walk, ride or sail everywhere and I kind of miss that. There's a LOT of places I have not been yet, too, that I'd like to see but don't really feel brave enough to go alone. It seems like the newer lands tend to be a lot more dangerous.

Re: Anyone up for a Challenge?

I look forward to seeing what ya come up with Crypt Keeper!

PAlexandria, Aye, I do die more often on this char then my others but he's also a lot cheaper to re-equip *smiles*, and the dying doesn't bug me as much as it used to....just hate trying to get me mount ressed.

I'm always up for some exploring! just let me know where and when.
