No honor with archery??

Hi,

I was a paladin/swordsman and I recently decided to soulstone swords and taken on archery.

My favorite is ogre lords, which gave my paladin the Lord status and Follower of Honor as well.

While killing ogre lords with swords I used to gain Honor, but I can gain no Honor in killing them by arrows.

And I'm careful in honoring them succesfully, not damaging the opponent prior to honoring. Of course, with archery I move a lot and I usually make the first damage but this did not make any difference with swords.

Any opinions??

This will not dicourage me in being an archer, as archery is great..

If you are honoring them before any damage is done to them, you should be gaining.

The rules for Honor still apply though, so moving/hitting first will not allow you to gain the most amount of honor possible.

* Must not already be honored by a nearby player.
* Must be close to you, in your line-of-sight, and have a clear path to you

The amount of Honor you gain from defeating your opponent will be affected by how closely you followed the above guidelines as well as your opponent's level of fame. Just like for Sacrifice, you should train your Honor in Felucca as creatures give double fame there. It is therefore a good idea to work both those virtues at the same time.

For both mages, dexers and archer, Evil Mages are a very good way to go. If you have high magic resistance, excellent armor and a good undead slayer, Lich Lords are highly recommended. The last path is extremely hard to achieve. You can continue with Lich Lords but it will take an insane amount of time. Again, if you have VERY GOOD armor and magic resistance, bless yourself and wear all the HP increase armor/jewel you can wear and fight Ancient Wyrms, Shadow Wyrms and Balrons.

Honor decays much slower than Compassion or Justice, but you should attempt to fight honourably at least 1-2 high fame monsters every 2-3 days or so to maintain your level at Knight.

If your not standing next to the ogre lord. That could be why you don't gain in honor

I've never had any problems with gaining honor with my archer. Are you sure you're not high enough that you can't gain with the OL?

If you want to avoid hitting them first, just disarm and arm as soon as you've honored them, so you don't autodefend. Just make an equip last weapon macro.

Stand far enough that you can honor, but they can't hit you. That should give you time to re-arm. You don't really need to be right beside them to gain honor. I run too much with my archer but I can still gain.

I'm sure I do not damage them before I honor them. I don't know if I'm to high to get honor from an ogre lord, I don't think so because I receive lots of fame and some karma.

I'm thinking of letting them to hit me first but these ogre lords can take you down in two hits.

It is not possible for anyone to stay next to an ogre lord and stay alive. So thats out.

May be I should go out for arctic ogre lords?? I need advice for some better opponents. I'm not a good defender against magic casters and I still fear Felucca.

How many dots of honor do you have now? And are you follower/seeker?

I was actually gonna edit my reply but I was running late for work

I'm not exactly sure how high OLs can take you for honor. But to get to Knight you'd have to fight harder monsters. Not sure what non-spellcasting monsters you can fight though. Cause I fight succubus with my archer, she takes me to Knight in no time.

Ok,

I tried letting the ogre lord hit me first, still no honor gained, I guess I have to switch to a better opponent.

Where do I find these succubus guys?? Can I go after them with 110 Tactics, 110 Anatomy, 95 Bushido, 80 Chiv, 85 Archery, 110 Focus, 40 Healing, 90 STR, 125 DEX, 40 INT, almost all 70 suit ??

Yeah, you can take them down.

I'll throw out the obvious and say a Demon Slayer is best used.

In the Fan Dancer Dojo (Tokuno Islands) there is a Succubus that you can single out and farm.

Or go to the Blood Dungeon in Ilsh (Spirituality) where you "ca" single some out, but then you gotta be crafty for when the paragons show up.
