You can have both clients installed at the same time, and switch between the two as needed/wanted. You can
download the 2D client here. If you already have an account with KR, that account will work with 2D just fine (accounts are not client dependent).

KR can be a little laggy, but it depends on many different factors... like your PC's configuration & maintenance, having the latest Windows Updates & hotfixes, having the latest patches for KR (it auto-updates). And keeping in mind that KR still isn't fully optimized & is still a work in progress... there are still a lot of systems within KR that the UO Team is still working on for that client.
