Old School Earrings Question

I was going through some of my characters bank boxes and found a set of earrings that cast bless. It now says Bless:42 charges and then below it Strength bonus:10, Dexterity bonus:10, Intelligence bonuse:10.
My two questions are: Do I get those bonuses only as long as I still have charges? And I kindof remember jewelry as being on a timer, every certain number of seconds they burn a charge, or is it you use a charge every time you have to put it on, for example when you die?
It seems like they're either a really good find or something to lock down and forget about. Either way I wish I had saved more of those then the half a zillion item id wands I stuffed away.

No they stay when the charges are used up[afaik]

Again afaik you use a charge each time you equip the item.

Right now they are worth a little something since items with charges like that don't spawn anymore. Plus I haven't seen any earrings spawn at all lately. I'd probably hang on to them a while longer then try auctioning them off as an old school item.

1k / charge i think they are worth.... once charges used up.. they are just a pair of empty earrings..

But do hold on to them!

afaik = As Far As I Know ... I think

If they are like the robe with the same properties as long as you have them on they continue to use charges. Not sure of the exact time between uses.

I think in game they should have stuff to recharge them and such.... and thinking of few more things that uo is missing

I got earrings with 50 invisibility charges

aye they use charges as you continue using them, i guess the duration of each charge is similar to the spell its effecting.

There was a pahse when OSI mucked up and they removed all the charges by accident so for example the bless ones gave you plus 10 stats as long as you wore them. They were selling for about 10 mill at the time lol
But they later fixed the bug and reissued all the items with 99 charges

They use up charges at a steady rate.. besides the inital putting them on.. I think.. I have a box full of necklaces and earrings with charges.. also cloaks and a few hats... Used to love the invisibility charges and used the strength ones all the time on my blacksmith/miner...
