Greetings all. While my UO is patching, I wanted to get some advice on a possible character template.

I've looked through the bard forum here and I noticed most of the templates involve magery and not melee skills. Is this normal? I've only played a little bit of UO over the years so a lot of it is still Greek to me. When I did play on Chessie back just after T2A came out, I mainly played straight warriors with a little magery thrown in as well for recall and what not. This time out, I'd love to dabble with a bard, but I've never played a mage and I'm afraid I wouldn't be that good at it.

So to narrow it all down, is it feasable to build bard skills while also building a melee character?

yes it is.....one of my dear friends has a peacer/decord/archer and he kicks some butt. i no its not a true melee, but i would imagine that swords/mace/fencer would be a ok aswell. welcome to the forums....

be simple.

1. chivalry
2. archery
3. tactics
4. focus
5. anathomy
6. healing
7. musicianship

too bad u cant have 12 skills, if so u could make a really nice template. just take the least best skill from the list and make it to peacemaking. i would go for 50 chivalry (recall and difine/consecrete) and focus 50 to add peacemaking. the veteran players however can have 800 skills if i'm not mitaken, if so disco would be nice (greatly weakens monsters so a really party-pro!)

no, music makes sence. keeps u and ure party a,muzed and give spirith when ure deep in a dungeon, also a lute is a good way to makemoney .

not verry usefull in 1v1 combat. but usefull in party and in dungeon adventures

Well here is what I'm thinking of doing.

1. Swords 120
2. Tactics 100
3. Music 120
4. Provo 100?
5. Healing 100
6. Anatomy 100

I'd like to throw some points on Chiv so I can at least recall early in the character's life.

That puts me at 640 prior to adding the Chivalry.

Sound like a good mix so far?

provocation my least vaforite skill. dont see much use in that AND a combatskil. but i am used to be a uber-bard, one who peace and disco, let his dragons fight and than shot fast and hard with arrows XD. and while traveling taking some ladys... ;)

provokation is nice tough when ure weak... just lure 2 dragons and provo, but still u must be able to slay the survivor...

i would also change sword to archery, a slayerbow is easy to get and works relly great. also lot of safer as u wont gain in any phisical combat

Fang it looks good. Only suggestion I would make is raise both music skills to 120. You will want the best chance for success you can get.

Depending on how you plan on playing the character. You might think about discord over provo. I have a bard/tamer. He has provo and peace. I like it but not sure if I wouldn't pick discord over just having provo

Discord would weaken the creature thus making it easier to kill. Something more to think about.
