Interesting new temps...

Apart from those who believe that temps have currently gotten much smaller in choice and ability I seem to think much differently.
I am trying out many a new idea since these changes, some I wish I had done alot earlier.
One example is my current mage temp on siege-
I drop Swords and ninja because of the DS and special nerf, but picked up in its place Wrestle along with 70 spellweave and 50 chiv.
To start, I figured I would need chiv because of the necro buff with apples, but man divine fury is nice, cleanse by flame is a much better cure even though im red and remove curse is great for duels as is forces the person to push a constant curse spam upon you.
Spellweave, not sure exactly what made me pick it up is just as awesome IMO.
Pixies !!!!ing own, gift of life, gift of renewal, attunment, so much power in only haveing 70 skill...
What are some out of the ordinary !!!! you have all come up with so far?

Re: Interesting new temps...

I am currently working up a mage/eval/med/wrestling/resist/chiv/SW/alcamist...trying for 4/6 casting...think skills are going to be something like this when i am finished
Med 100
Magery 69.9
eval 110
chiv 60ish
SW 70ish
resist 100
wrestle 110
alcy 100
not an offensive power house but should do ok at survival....thinking fairies, exp pots/conflag pots, throw in lighting/ fireballs etc etc just need to work out the exp pot timing....plenty of ways to heal/remove curse and cure
should be complete with him within a day or so...i will let ya know how he is on the field

Re: Interesting new temps...

yeah i realize if i go above 69.9 i will lose 4/6 casting, thats why i locked it at 69.9 still pretty affective on test center and exp conflag/exp pot then a bunch of fairies seems to do ok

Re: Interesting new temps...

lol. Demon > fairy. This patch has most definately taken away customization of characters as far as mages go. Every mage either has wrestling or necro or both. Parry is also the next most popular supplemental skill.

Some say this pub allows them to make templates they never thought of before. These same templates were available and used before the patch. It took away ninjitsu as viable pvp unless someone figures out a tactics/fightingskill/ninja/stealth template that would actually kill someone. Bushido is still used but not 'gimp' (Never thought this was gimp except for archers when the skill first came out).

Some characters used to be completely Offensive characters, now everyone is playing a defensive roll. With speed hackers and running warriors I think this was generally a wrong move. Some of the nerfs were needed, others just limit options of skills. Before the patch, 'unique' templates were more readily available. I do however like playing my warrior more now. Mages are generally easier. Some have disarm with wrestling but I see a lot of staff of the magi and swords of pros running around . Archers must be loving life yet again.

BTW - in a field battle if you have 69.9 magery and are casting fireball/lightning/harm/magic arrow. You will not kill a chiv warrior at 3/6 or more and you will most definately not kill a good mage with 120 resisting spells. No poison/mortal/bleed/strangle, you will have a hard time convincing someone to face plant. Necromancy with 69.9 magery might be viable...you would constantly be working your karma however so you can still CHIV heal.

Re: Interesting new temps...

I was saying with necromancy. Most necro spells give negative karma for using them. Attacking players and killing them also does. 69 magery would only be good with something like necromancy or you will not kill anyone.

Spellweaving and all that is very cool, but it always has been . In the above post i was mostly saying that with low magery you need something else to be a viable combatant.

I would prefer a nox mage with 6/4 and 100 enchange pots, u paralize, than do corpse skin trow pot and do a spell, burn him and died...

Re: Interesting new temps...

That would be nice zevil but casting is capped at 6/2 for mages and now you have a 50% cap on enhance potion (unless you have alchemy then you can add another %30) .

Re: Interesting new temps...

Nox is great. I do like the lumberjack bit because I have gotten very good with it. My brother has a 4/6 nox tactics warrior with healing. He NEVER dies and can just chain poison people. So you have 10-20 cure pots? lol he has 3x DP pots and can just repoison his weapon while you run from him. Really poisoning skill > pots. Only a few types use pots anyways. Mages with wrestling (usually means they have another weakness) mana?

My next character will have poison, if I can't fit it into a current one.
