| Re: How to start as Tamer My tamer is:
120 Taming (still working on it, only at about 117 now)
120 Lore
120 Vet
115 Magery ( looking for 120 scroll)
120 Med
115 Eval (need a scroll again)
If you are going to be a tamer, one thing to remember is that your skill points in lore, taming, and vet = how many stable slots you get for animals. Each animal takes one stable slot, no matter how many control slots it takes when you have it out.
Magery is essential if you are going to tame your own pets, unless you plan on walking them back to a stable until they bond. For ridable pets it isn't such a big deal, but if you want a rune beetle or dragon, it's a hassle.
My tamer is also an elf for the extra mana boost, plus I can tame cu sidhes or the other elf-only things. You can stay human and just buy them tho, and wear the pads of the cu to ride one. My stats are:
105 str
120 int
25 dex
That's with a stat scroll. With those stats, if I decide not to use a pet, I can go and sling spells and almost never run out of mana.
Instead of using peace to tame, I do it the old fashioned way if I am going solo:
Beat the critter down until it is almost dead so it can't move as fast, then tame away. If I have to, stop and cast on it again until it's health is low again.
Also on animals that get hostile when you try and tame them, you can use honor on yourself. We are all broken and wounded in this world. Some choose to grow strong at the broken places.
