Almost all the items in the game are hideous! I dont like to overly critisise, cos i like the way KR plays (hot bars rock)...

But maybe they should consider putting strokes on the graphics...would look so much cooler and more UOy!

Welcome to UO Forums Nitrous Oxide

2D is a long ways from being killed. Would say that is in the future plans. How far in the future......who knows. KR is getting better. I know it is released but it is best looked at as a beta release. Thankfully EA realizes that and has postponed the next expansion until they get KR up to the players standards

your right they made the right choice in waiting for s.a but as for 2d ...VIVA LA 2D there going to have to pry it from my dying hands i was one who switched over when they killed 3d so im holding 2d to the end

A nice thing about regs is, you can now make a hotbar for your regs, which has their number in a corner of every square! Its actaully a really nice feature!

I have small hotbars for my runebooks and reagents so i always know how many i have! And with the brilliant hotbar macros there is no need to really open my backpack, as i have macros for unquiping items & clothes and changing weaps!

The hotbar feature is amazing, but the items are still damn ugly!

I would just like to add my two cents in. Since I made modification expansions for the Half-Life pc game, I would have to say changing the engine in which the game functions is not the answer to improve the game. All EA has to do to improve 2d is exactly what they are doing now. By slowly improving the graphics of items and adding new items with an updated looking graphic. (remember what dragon scales use to look like, yikes) In my opinion 2d is a very advanced engine which would allow the dev team to add over time great looking graphics. In a game like UO you don't need stunning 3d graphics to keep people interested. Just add kewl looking new stuff and update crappy looking stuff and you got it!.
I love the way they added the new elvin furniture and stuff those are definately a good move. 2d graphics with an edge I say.

Hope this post isnt to long, but here are some item graphics I would change.

Sextant - can tell what it is but a slight more contrast could help.
Jewels - making them a bit bigger would be kewl since they so tiny.
Chars - Give characters a slight choice in facial appearence, not a lot but like eye color, lips, eyebrows, chin. Just a set of pre made faces would give UO some diversity.
Cloth and Leather - a little bit more texture on cloth and leather clothing would make them look good.

These are my opinions and I would say that these are very small changes. Huge graphical changes are always bad for a game but small steps are always good. the way EA is going with 2d suits me fine.

Someone played with the gaussian blur in photoshop... and added a saturation filter ontop of it..

Well done ....


oh yea forgot.. liquidfy tool to make the runebooks and runes a bit bigger....
