![]() | Re: Do you believe places can really be haunted? I dont beleive in the haunted mumbo jumbo. but I have seen some strange things in my life that would contradict this. If I see a wall dripping with blood I will just walk by and say no blood no blood just rasberry jam. |

![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() | Re: Do you believe places can really be haunted? I've lived in a home that was haunted. When we first went to look at the house (built in 1850 in California) there was a strange feeling to it... sorta sad sorta happy.. nothing threatening .... and Mom fell in love with it. After we moved in things started happening and mom started looking into its history. Documentation showed that a young couple married and for many years were unable to conceive a child. When they finally did he was a sickly child and died sometime in his fourth or fifth year. The parents (primarily the mother) were completely devasted at his death. They killed themselves in the upstairs sitting room (later to be my mothers bedroom). At night, during the winter, you could sometimes hear a woman crying upstairs. Lots of crazy things happened while we lived there. No matter what time of day we left the upstairs bathroom light would be on if it was dark out when we got home. Kids forgetting to turn the light off... could be... the first 10 times maybe... but for 3 years? My closet door would close overnight. Yeah maybe I was sleepwalking but I have never done so in any other house I lived in. Lost things finding there way to the bed of the person looking for them... was mom trying to make us think we were all crazy.. coulda been but she swears she didn't find/place them there. Lots more things but those were the most common. Another odd thing about that house was I couldn't... wouldn't.. and you weren't big enough to make me... go into the basement. The first couple of times I had to feed the dogs (inside/outside dogs but their beds and food bowls were in the basement) I just knew that a casket was going to come through the unfinished wall and some THING was going to get me. Just like the pool scene from Poltergeist... but way before the movie came out. No one walked through the front yard. It was huge, two giant oak trees, a little rock wall, a great porch at the front door we never used (we used the kitchen door which was a later addition to the house and closer to the driveway). Documentation showed that when one of the residents lost his wife he had her buried in the backyard (the same wall I just knew a casket was going to come out of) and when he died he was cremated and spread across the front yard. When we left the house it had a feeling of serenity to it. I like to think that the Mother who'd lost the child had been able to do what she needed to do (take care of kids) so that she could move on to wherever she was going. I went back to the house 20 years later and the woman we had sold it to allowed my sister and I to walk through. Maybe I was too old to see/feel things anymore but it was just a house.. like any of the other 21 houses I've lived in. ![]() Sandra Lee Mists of Avalon |
