Nerve Strike...

Is it just me, or did they fix/nerf it?

Several times now I've used it, saw the graphics for it (sparkles or whatever around whoever I just hit), but they are still moving. Not a shortend paralysis, but literally running while the graphics for the hit is still going. No evasion was used.

Re: Nerve Strike...

It seems fine to me.

One think I notice about nervestrike is that everytime I do it I see two numbers pop up one is the actually nervestrike damage and one is the damage I am doing without specials, is this how nervestrike works?

Re: Nerve Strike...

Disclaimer: Everything I'm about to say I just heard from my hubby.

If you're spamming nervestrike, only the first one actually hits. The next time eventhough you see the sparkles and it looks like it landed, it didn't, so they can run away. If you weren't spamming ns, then yeah someone did find a way around it.

I'll check on the ns damage with 120 bushido tonight.

Re: Nerve Strike...

If they were in the process of doing something that prevents their own movement, a nervestrike will only do damage and not paralyze. You'll get the message, your target is already in a state of paralysis. So, lets say someone is casting a spell, and you nerve them, since they were already frozen still from the spell casting, they won't get para'ed from the nerve.

Also, if you bokuto has hit magic arrow or fireball, what will happen is that you'll hit them with the nerve, but if the hit spell goes off, it will hit them after the nerve went off and thus break their paralysis. That is why you want harm or lightning on your bokutos, because harm and lightning hit before the nerve does, while fireball and magic arrow hit after.

I have done 65+ damage in one hit with a nerve strike. You get the normal damage from a bokuto hit, which is actually doubled from a normal hit, then you get the nerve hit, and then a hit spell. With 120 bushido your nerve should do around 25-30 damage.

edit: Truth be told, the only real reason you'd want tactics with bushido is for the evasion bonus you get from it. Your nervestrike damage won't go up much higher, but your base damage will in general.

Re: Nerve Strike...

I'm confused, how does tactics boost evasion?

People where saying to get tactics to increse the normal damage of your nervestrikes.

Re: Nerve Strike...

Tactics makes Evasion last longer.

It bumps the weapon damage, thus bumps nervestrike damage (=double regular damage + damage from nervestrike).

Thanks Merc!!! Odds are the problem was me attacking while they were casting.

I have 110 bushido and the nerve damage does 22 so not too much of a big deal to go 120 bushido, think I will stay at 110 bushido for now.

Re: Nerve Strike...

Yea, 120 bushido really isn't necessary, its just nice to have. Pvp is a numbers game and that 3-5 extra damage can mean the difference between life and death, however only in very rare circumstances.

I've been playing my bokuto mage a lot lately, and nerving people with that template is just like a secondary way of hurting someone. I'm still a spell caster at heart, but man... if you're in the middle of a spell battle with someone, then you all of a sudden throw in a 50-60 point nerve hit on top of the spells that you're throwing, it can really turn the tide of a battle in your favor in an instant.
