I was doing the most difficult bow up to about 70 skill then i was going toward a bow that was in the 60% success range. Loosely following the FAQ. I have the data broken down into 1k board runs if someone wants to see the raw data. I was interested to note that I only once went through 1k boards without a gain. That was at 89.4 making heavys, oddly enough I made heavys again out of the next 1k and gained .5. I gained just .1 on 7 occasions beginning at 89.2. The final run of 1k boards ended with the final gain on the second attempt, first successful one, using 11 boards.
