Would men rather have an old-fashioned wife who cooks and cleans? Or a modern working woman who'll earn an income and be an equal partner? and vice versa.

Beloved has worked some outside of the home but not much. In fact we have done without a lot of extras because of her staying home. In the thirty two years we have been married I never once counted her as less then an equal. In fact she may be just a little ahead of me. Pulling me up and making me a better person. But then again I'm old....even older then darksie . So it could just be someone who is old thinking the old way is better

The bad thing is the pre-conception that there is no "old fashioned" and "new fashion" type of man.

I think you'd have to exactly define the "old fashioned" bit. Are we talking about someone who is home and pregnant, wearing an apron and baking a cake? If so, gawd I hope not.

Question based on the fact,that in some cultures the woman is EXPECTED to stay at home,cooking,cleaning,bringing up the kids,etc.

She isnt allowed to have a life outside the home.

However western trends are causing rifts in many modern lives,between the 'old and new'.

Question is also based on the many times said phrase. 'he married some one just like his mother' ie could run a house efficiently.

Its said,many men marry/partner a 'mother figure'.
