To all Vista users........

My desktop crashed and I went to best buy to buy another but he told that UO doesn't work with Vista unless you use a virtual machine (wth is that?!), is this true or is this guy nuts?

Re: To all Vista users........

UO works on my Vista machine. I haven't had problem 1 yet. Even the KR client. Don't think the BestBuy guys know what they are talking about.

Re: To all Vista users........

I ran KR on Vista. And now it doesn't work, coincidence!? I THINK NOT.

Anyway, not sure it's related, my computer worked fine before, but didn't with XP so I don't know.

Re: To all Vista users........

I'm using Vista right this second. Business edition, even (ie. doesn't have all the multimedia extras).

Both 2D and KR run just fine for me. No virtual machine required.

Re: To all Vista users........

Oh, and a virtual machine is what I think they mean to be a virtual PC. Virtual PC is a program that you setup a previous version of windows on, XP, 2000, etc, and it runs on the currrent operating system but in a separate window that is the operating system that you installed on it. This way you can use those previous versions of software that only work on a past operating system.

Example: Developers use this a lot to make sure that new programs they write are backwards compatable.

Re: To all Vista users........

Info on virtual machines - basically, it's software that lets you run an operating system within your operating system. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Virtual_machine

VMWare is a popular one - http://www.vmware.com/

Or Parallels for those with Macs who want to run Windows within the Mac OS X.

Or people who want to run Linux within Windows or vice versa.

Not necessary for Vista and UO though.
