Re: ARcher, Need Help setting up
Get a sword and a shield, an archer and tons of arrows and kill monsters!
Lumberjacking is good if you want to make your own arrows. That way you can just go kill birds for feathers and make your own stuff. |

Re: ARcher, Need Help setting up
Once your character gets up there a bit, Swoops are great for gathering feathers for arrows. And, since they're non-aggro and most people don't bother to take the feathers, just visit Swoops and carve up all the dead birds laying around. Free feathers!
(even if your character is still low-level)

Or the easier way is forget about gather shafts and feathers and just kill centaurs in ish, they drop around 40-60 arrows a pop ![]() Shadow striker I would consider either being a swordsman or an archer but not both, just imho.

Re: ARcher, Need Help setting up
The ratman archers in Ilsh (right outside honesty i think?) also drop arrows, and they aren't too tough.

The Baronship of Cove also gives their new recruits a starting package of new arrows and some gear!

Re: ARcher, Need Help setting up
Basics for archers.
1. You need a lot of DEX, a fair amount of STR (enough to equip all bow types) and the rest can be INT. 2. You'll need a "damage multiplier" skill. This could be Chivalry, Ninjitsu, Bushido, or a combination. Most archers seem to favor a combination of Chivalry and Bushido. A typical template would include: Archery Tactics Anatomy Healing Chivalry Bushido 4. You don't need to be able to craft arrows or bows (fletching) with your Archer, your crafter(s) can do that. 5. Sources of arrows: Ratman Archers (Ilshenar Compassion and Sacrifice gates), Juka Lords (Ilshenar Honesty Jungle, Mistas) Centaurs (near Mistas), Changelings (Twisted Weald) 6. Acquiring good bows: lots of them in the abandoned quest satchels in Heartwood, depending on shard; Swoops at Twisted Weald. This should answer a lot of your questions, we can provide more answers once we know more about your playstyle. Welcome to UO!

Re: ARcher, Need Help setting up
If you are looking for what ti kill to raise Archery skill, the fastest way I have experienced is get yourself a repeating crossbow made from ASH wood. Not only is this the fastest archery weapon, by getting one made from Ash wood it gives you an additional 10% Swing Speed Increase. Also if you you have the Chivalry skill you should cast Divine Fury as this will also increase your swing speed as well as your hit chance increase. Now because you will only gain when you actually hit you target, having extra jewlery on to max out your hit chance increase will help as well.
Now that you have your equipment ready, spend some time at the Moonglow cematary and stay behind the fence. You should easily get your archery skill up to low to mid 70's. With that skill you should be able to go hunting with friends and actually contribute to killing monsters. If your intentions are PVP, sombody else will have to answer that one. Good luck and Have fun! |

Re: ARcher, Need Help setting up
If you want to mix archery with swords, use a sword that has "best weapon skill" imbued into it. You will save yourself the time and trouble of raising swords and be able to use both weapons effectively. If you develop lumberjack and fletching skills, you can make your own bows and get some decent artifacts from Heartwood. Works especially well if you cast an elf rather than a human.
