You can gain fame and karma as long as you are on the same server as the party that is hunting.

Well I know if you go into blood dungeon and wait at the entrance. The hunting party can kill anything in the dugeon and you can gain. So I really believe that you just have to be on the same server. If I can get on in time tonight we can test it out.
