TY TY TY TY Baldguy!!!! I'm a tamer!!!

HUGEST THANK YOU EVER to Baldguy AKA Thom AKA Paul :grin:

OK, so... secret's out. I bought the magic polar bear account, which happened to have a darn good tamer on it. Well, it just so happens that taming is the one skill I have NEVER tried in UO. So I've been trying to read up on it the last couple days and, WHEW my head is spinning!!!

So I ran into Thom tonight as I was marking a rune to Paul Mart, and we got to chatting. I didn't realize he was a tamer, so he was filling me in on all the stuff I need to work on - macros, what kind of armor to get, tricks of the trade, etc.

Then he brings me to Skara and gives me a PUPPY!!!! (lol you're all going to have to deal with me naming these things wrong 'cuz I can't remember any of these animals' real names!) OMG the cutest golden puppy!!!! So I'm freaking out over the puppy (for a moment I even forgot about polar bears!) and Thom gets ready to head to bed.

Then he goes, "Let me show you one cool place before I go to bed..."

He takes me to the secret taming place, and...

I tamed a giant bird thing on my very first try!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Well, I mean, I angered it A LOT but when I finally started making friends, he accepted me as his owner :grin:

(That was after the ninja swiped me for 3/4 of my HP!)

The one problem (here is where you're all gonna say, "Kit, you MORON!"): because I am so creeped out by playing male characters, I created a new female character (and made her look like the old human Kit that I miss so much) and soul-stoned all of the skills over to her.

WELL. My dumb arse didn't realize... now I have SUCKY stats. Like, REALLY sucky.

I was trying to save some $$ because the name change and gender change tokens are $20 each, and I had a ton of soulstone tokens at home.

So now I'm not sure what to do. Buy an advanced char for the stats, then soul-stone all the skills over to her?

What do you all think?

Anyway, my new pets are in the stable working on bonding, and I'm so freakin' giggly right now that I don't know how I'm gonna sleep!

Just work on the stats and save your money!!!!!!!!!!!!!

You could just work the stats up...should not take that long...not like GM'ing a skill. I think it is 10 stat points a day you can work up. So it should take less than a month. Just me thinking.

stone the skills and get a female charecter. What you are experencing is like myself with Fiver my only female char. Only reason i kept that 1 was she had a personnel bless deed.......

I say just work your stats.

As I'm hearing that working stats isn't as hard as working skills, I think I'll just try and work them up.

And I also learned something else new from baldguy - that stats are no longer skill based and they all have equal chance of going up when training. WOW! How did I miss THAT announcement (and apparently it isn't "new" at all - I'm just slow!) So that is encouraging!

As long as you are gaining in a skill you will gain a stat point every 15 min up to 12 max in a day. For example, you could work hiding and raise your int or work taming and work your dex. Again, you have to gain in a skill.

Actually you don't have to "gain" in a skill. Just have to pass the skill gain check

Hmmmm my problem is that I'm not too far from skill cap so I don't have a whole lot of room for training skills not in my template. Would training magery work int?

This template is taming/lore/vet, magery/med, music/peace
