lockpicking training

I GM'ed my last lockpicker pre-pub 14. (Power hour was still in effect, actually).
Can I get to 95 off a single GM tinker chest? OR do I need chests made by different levels of tinker?

Re: lockpicking training

I gm'd my lockpicker using a few tinkered chests.
Going to the twisted weald helped too.

Re: lockpicking training

Iirc, you want a chest made by a Tink with about 20 points more Tink than you have LP.

The Twisted Weald trick that Ally brought up is going there and getting discorded by the Satyr when you hit 95 LP. One GM Tink box will get you to GM from 95 if you use that trick rather than having to do T-chests or Dungeon chests....

Re: lockpicking training

I tried this satyr trick out, by hitting him with a magic arrow. It kept peacing me or provoing stuff onto me. Took 10 tries and oen death to get discorded. Then I forgot that it dropped my 90 magery to 58, so I could no longer cast invis. Ran out of the gate, and came back in while still discorded and he started attacking me again.

So, what is a good way to get the trick started? I have been toying with the idea of trying this with a tailor and a beetle full of cloth as well. Get to 120 off of oil cloths.

Re: lockpicking training

Once you get discorded you have to hurry and run out the gate and then back in, if something is provoke on to you, then kill it or just run out again and wait and try again, till you get it. I collected a couple deathrobes as well, but worth it, hehe.

Re: lockpicking training

I just tabbed into War Mode, targeted him, cast Invis and keep it targeted on yourself, and stayed away from him and any other monsters till he Discorded.

Once you get discod, just keep close to him.

Never thought about Tailoring...not a bad idea at all

Re: lockpicking training

we should make a skill building thread with a consistent method for getting discorded by Satyr's, and a list of all skills that can be feasibly trained there.
Not feasible
Peace (spamming area peace around swoops could be seen as interfering with others' play)
Provocation
Smithing (no anvil)
Carpentry (wood heavy)
Fletching (wood Heavy)
fishing (no water)
Cooking? Possible on fire beetle (i think), but following could be hard
Begging ( no npc's to beg from)
Stealing
Inscription (weight and reg issue)
Melee skills
Taming

Feasible
Hiding
Meditation
Tailoring
Magery
Evaluation
Resists
Lore (Active)( Macro should be use skills, wait for target, target next)
Anatomy
Discord? LOL, training discord by being discorded!

Copy list into a post and add to it. Then we can collate and add as a thread in our lagging skill building threads.

Re: lockpicking training

I have no idea what Twisted Weald trick y'all are talking about.

For my lockpickers I used my beetle to hold bags full of locked boxes. 20 boxes per bag (keyring limit) and I'd use 3 - 5 bags full. (I use UOAssist for the macro UOAssist macros )

You record the macro with the boxes on you, then put them on the beetle and you can run the macro while riding the beetle. Works great.

Re: lockpicking training

satyr is super discord Tuka. They can discord you, and you lose 32 points from ALL skills. You can then gain as if you were at that skill level (kinda like an all encompassing mage weapon).
And with the changes in skil gains, apparently, you can gain from only one box now, not carry around a few hundred boxes and keys.

Oh, and we need a Mouse report. ASAP.

After you hit 95 lockpicking you can only get gains off the chests in dungeons.
