Best place to mine

I'm re-visiting UO after a 5 year break. Much has changed. I'm wanting to know where the best place to mine ore is these days. I've heard of people mining insane amounts of ore, and Minoc just doesn't seem to be producing that much If anyone has any tips I'd appreciate them!

Re: Best place to mine

Fel produces twice the amount of ore per dig than Tram, but then you have to worry about PKs getting you.

Nothing beats mining by ship in Felucca. Just park your boat alongside the mountains north of Minoc, Britannia, and go the length safely, stacking up lots.

Re: Best place to mine

All great suggestions!

Many shards will also have Rune Libraries taht have mining books in them sorted by types of ore. Recalling around isnt as fun to me as the other methods posted, but many people like it.

I recall mine. It is faster "for me" and I can target a single type of ore to gather.

Some people like to strip mine. I do that too when I am just bored with other things in the game.

Welcome back!!!

What shard on you on? Many of us have crafters or rune libraries we could point you to. If you are playing a newbie account, you may want to try to start on a server with a big UOFORUMS presence, like Lake Austin.

I recently returned myself, and these guys have made it painless for me.

I always mined in Del because , well it easy There is a smith, stable, bank and inn, your in the guard zone. You can mine all colors there and meet some cool UTB (on Baja) and really nice PK'rs (on LA).

Re: Best place to mine

Del Fel is great for circuit strip mining. By the time you make it around town your initial starting point has respawned. It also works well for working carpentry.

Re: Best place to mine

I always circuit strip mined in Umbra. You start in 1 area, and circle your way around the interior side of the moat in town and it has respawned like Del. You are really close to the smith at almost all times, its all pretty much in GZ, and nobody EVER mines there, so you can get the entire town to yourself, and every type of ore is there.
