| Guest | Old gamer thinking about rejoining Hello, I played UO when the expansion Lord blackthorns revenge came out and i played it for a year or so and for some reason i stopped playing ever since. Me and my friends have just starting talking about all the great times we had playing and decided to play again. My question(s) are do alot of people still play UO or is it a deserted game where people are off playing WoW? UO:LBR was AMAZING and i hope its just as fun as it was then. MY second question is what changes have been made? are they for the better or worse? and whats the newest/best expansion of the series? Thank you! |

There are lot of people still playing. Depending on which shard you pick determines how many you will run into. I think things are getting better all the time. I know that is open to debate so the answer will depend on who is talking. The latest expansion is Mondains Legacy. They have one in the works called Stygian Abbess (I think that is the correct spelling) for later this year. Also coming out with a new client which looks exciting. It will be released under Kingdom Reborn title. It is a free upgrade. I believe you have picked a great time to come back. Look forward to hearing more from you. Vepl |

![]() | Re: Old gamer thinking about rejoining I also started when UO:LBR came out and had an amazing time as well. I hold those days very close to my heart. When AoS came out though everything changed for the worse, in my opinion, and I quit. I recently gave the game a shot by doing the a trial thing but after playing the game for an hour I nearly fell asleep of boredom. Nothing to aspire to just plain, endless monster bashing to get some artifact. But if you like to decorate houses, the game is for you. That's my honest opinion of UO. But give it a shot and see if you like it. |

Personally, I've been playing for over 9 years (non-stop) and have played both alone and with guilds. The game is whatever you make it, and there are plenty of people to play with. It is definitely not deserted! If you find yourself on Lake Austin, PM me. UO Forums has a guild there, and it's a great group of people to play with ![]() ![]() [UOCraft.com - Pet Power Calc] - [The Syndicate Guide to UO:KR] - [Photography: Blog - eBay - Flickr] - [Bird Blog - Geek Blog - Poker Blog] |

Hope you find a shard to keep you playing long enough for the new stuff to launch. Get on a good roleplaying shard and you will find 'communities' of people ,with different concepts to choose from, who run a variety of 'events' They will help you out as well with items and such to get you restrated in the game . As well as people on here at UOForums too ![]() Good luck and have fun ![]() |

![]() | Re: Old gamer thinking about rejoining Im a returning player as well... i played long ago before trammel/felucca and played through lbr and then on free shards for the past few years. Things have definatly changed.. but its also new and quite a lot of fun. These forums are a big help as well - welcome back id also like to add that ive been around the block with other MMORPGs and none of them seem to quite mesure up for me... dark age of camelot, FF11, diablo2, guild wars, everquest 1 and 2, even WoW... none of them quite do it for me... ultima still reigns supreme in my book Last edited by The87; 21st February 2007 at 12:14 PM.. |

You a Crosby fan by chance? :cheesy: I have been playing UO on and off for about 8 years. I am currently "off" now, been satisfying my new WoW addiction lately. But maybe I'll return to UO soon, starting to get bored with WoW... my boss is quitting WoW, who initially got me turned on to it, to play LotR Online. He's been playing beta for awhile now. So I may get into that...dunno.... Anyhoo...Welcome back! ![]() ![]() Siggy courtesy of Nevaeh, thank you! |

Don't let the nay sayers get yah down either, UO is what you make of it and the community is great. I would recommend Pac or Atl if you like lots of people, Europa or Cats if you like RP, Lake Austin or Origin if you want to place a large house. ![]() Welcome Strangers, the paths are treacherous today... ![]() Signature courtsey of atlas607 |

| Guest | Re: Old gamer thinking about rejoining Well, im 3 days into my new account and ill be honest, when i first started playing, going around killing pigs and dogs to gain skill it wasnt that much fun i started second guessing ultima. But 2 days ago this guy wanted me to join their guild, since then my experience has been amazing!, they have been helping me gain skills, gave me a house and have been extremely helpful. Anyone that is starting to play again i suggest joining a good guild. |
