| Fight For Destard I must admit that whilst the books of truth have been out, myself, accompanied by a roving band of renegades have had some very intense fights featured around dastard. I went there for easy kills, but another guild caught onto this and lay in wait for PK’s, ready to gank them.
Well you can imagine my surprise the other night when I heard our war cry, against PAS. One of the largest guilds in UO. They are a Trammel based guild, in main. I went to dastard. I found the whole experience rather amusing………
“FOR THE MOTHERLAND” I heard the cry. I heard the cry over the mountains, over the seas, all over Sosoria the cry could be heard. I was bound to help my allies, as they have helped me in the past. I summoned my magical powers of long distance travel, my paladin instincts sent me to a weird swamp like place, just outside a dungeon they like to call dastard.
I was amazed to see the destruction that lay in front of me. Hundreds of bodies littered the outside of the cave. As I stood there, two bodies came fleeing from the mouth of the cave. Their bodies erupted into infernos. One slipped, and fell to the ground, he screamed in agony. Then he was silent. The second one, turned and looked at me. He was startled by something, his face was pale, under the soot. His gaze chilled my blood. He approached me, with an out stretched arm. I was afraid for the first time in many moons. ‘What caused these once brave and noble warriors to flee??’
I drew back my sword and plunged it deeply into the mans chest, I heard thunder, then a flash of lightening. The man dropped to his knees, then fell face down in the murky red mud that now flowed over the soil, like a river of death. The stench in the air was unbearable.
I managed to gather my thoughts, I used my telepathic abilities to communicate with my comrades. They were all badly wounded inside. I had to go to their aid.
I remember when I was young, playing in the caves around here. I was only knee high, back then I had no fear. I remember another entrance into the depths of the dungeon. It lies near a town called Serpents Hold. I had to get there. I called upon my paladin heritage once more. I arrived in a beautiful, quaint village, but I had no time to admire this place. I ran out of the town and down through the entrance to this new cave, one which I had not frequented for many seasons. Nothing appeared to change, but I noticed very little. I was in a hurry. My comrades needed me. There is strangle and mystical goings on in such places of ancient lore. Blues sparkles of energy erupt from the air its self. If my memory serves me correctly simply touching the energy will rip you from the current time and place that stands before you and you will soon have a new place stood before you.
The feeling was gut wrenching, suddenly one of the most feared of beasts stood before me. An Ancient Worm. Its presence put fear into me like I’d never experienced before. I ran for my life, however I was soon not to have a life……….
I ran through passages, past beast that normally would have stopped me. I entered the main cavern of the legendary dungeon of Destard. There were strange forces of energy about me. Both friend and foe had placed magical barriers before me. I had little time to react, I was out numbered 20 to 1. I knew my time had come……..
The netherworld isn’t such a bad place. The world may be dull shades, all lifeless and grey. But ghosts never seem to have a care in the world. Why should they, nothing can harm them anymore. They are free to walk where they please. That don’t need to worry about the living, they can’t be harmed. I decided that whilst I may be dead now, and life was so much fun. I have to live up to the fact that life is one whole circle. I could hope, that one day I would be reincarnated. I decided to rejoin my childhood and explore the dungeon that I once loved.
There were people fighting which ever way I turned, it seemed I had been too late anyway, all of my comrades had already fallen. I walked over to where I used to tease the Water Elementals. The fighting seemed to be more intense here. There was a man in a black robe, in fact it could have been any dark colour, I could only make out dark and light shades of grey. This man was simply walking around, with his arms folded. His lips were moving but no sound came out. Magical energies were filling the cavern. Sparks danced across the roof.
People’s bodies exploded. Total destruction. There were a couple of people attempting to stop this abominations destruction. They weren’t being successful. Their life seemed to be sapped away.
I decided to go and hide in a corner, somehow I knew that my brother would soon be here. He would come to avenge my death. He would come and rally our comrades. He would lead them into battle against all odds. By now I must have seen over 100 different people, from all of the roving bands of vagabonds that inhabit Sosoria. |
