One of the oldest adventure memoris i have is to find out where the hostage was held and go resque him/her.

I who always wanted you guys to inpvoe it and make harder versions of it so you had to go resque them from demons or harder monsters.

This was wery fun.

Last I checked you could still do that... did the postings about the hostages stop getting added to the boards?
The hostages definately still spawn.

Rescued a noble from Lizardmen in Despise last night. Have always rescued some from bandits (reds) on the road to Yew as well. Don't recall having to rescue anyone from higher level mobs, but sounds good to me.

Arcus, that's not really accurate at all. From the FAQ:

Q: Darkscribe said something about old Seer, IGM, or EM-placed items going away with KR. Does this mean my favorite hangout will disappear?
A: No. Seer, IGM, or EM-placed items will be not deleted by the introduction of a new client. However, not all of them may look exactly the same, and some may have missing or misaligned art. We will make every effort to find and fix major issues during beta; however, we are talking about close to ten years of hand-placed content, across more than two dozen shards - we may not be able to fix it all by launch, and some of it may not be fixable.

Excuse me but you cant say what I said is "not true at all". The removal of the bulletin board postings in game is still accurate.

As far as what DS said, considering his position he should have known better than to make his statement the way he did. Im sure I am not the only one who didnt read the FAQ and still believes parts of UO history are going to disappear with the new client.

I quit looking for them 5+ years ago... so I wouldn't be the "best" time line verification ...

If my UO lore is correct Tabbitha. A long time ago the bulletin boards at the bank would give information about an NPC being kidnapped. It would give general description of where they where being held/taken. You would then go and free the prisoner from there captors. I know the prisoners still spawn. Just don't know if the info is posted on the bulletin boards anymore.

Aye, you could go to the inn and read the bulletin boards and go find these people who needed help. They were also ones were you had to escort them to towns or dungeons to look for family members etc.

I kinda miss that, better then being spammed by 50 npcs when you walk through a town.

When I first started playing in 98, I thought the prisoners and board messages had a deeper purpose in the game than what it did. I alwys thought I was mssing something.
Once I had garnered enough gold to venture outside of Vesper, with some equipment and start real training, I found a captive.

Being a total newb, I had NO idea where YEW was, but I was trying to get her there!!!!! I asked for directions all along the road, and followed my road signs like a good newb.
Then this guy, who was this glitchy red, came up and killed her. Shouted "NOOB" at me, then killed me. When I auto-res'ed to ask what happened, he killed me again.

FUN times!

Didnt those message boards also post which reds had the highest murder counts and there was a system in place to turn their heads into the gaurds.

Yup! As a newb, you memorized those names and ran with fear if you saw them!!! On Pacific ( I started there, hated it so much that I left the game until Trammel came out and re-started on baja), the object of fear was AnNIe. She had a 3,000,000 bounty on her head. There were several others, but she stands out.

Here's a memory that the talk of the old rescue attempts brought about, do you remember giving gold to npc's and them telling you that a magic item was in so and so direction?

Yes! I had totally forgotten that, Cabe, until you mentioned it though. Back in the dark ages, it was!
