Was with a group doing Lady Mel Wednesday evening. There where seven of us. We where all partied until Lady Mel was about 1/4 life. Party was dropped. When I went to loot her I got the message "You did not earn the right to loot this corpse". I know I didn't do a lot of damage after the party dropped but thought everyone should of had looting rights.

If anyone knows of a change or what might of happened it would be appreciated.

Thats a bug. Try dismounting and remounting your ethreal or regular ride. That often fixes it for me.

I'll try and remember that for the next time.

Depending on Lady Mel's position on the screen if you can run off screen and back again sometimes that works as well. Also did a log out/log in once and it worked. If you're with a pick up group then gotta be quick, always scavengers at Mel looking to pounce when timer runs out. =p Can't blame them I got 2 taint once waiting until timer ran out.


Below is the looting rights from the five on friday (nothing changed, it's just finally clear how loot is handled - the five on friday 2 weeks ago explained how luck plays into loot - that was nice because i've always wondered)

- If the max hp of the creature is:
less than 200 hp: you have to do at least 1/2 of the top attacker's damage to get looting rights.
between 200 and 1000 hp: you have to do at least 1/4 of the top attacker's damage to get looting rights.
between 1000 and 3000 hp: you have to do at least 1/8 of the top attacker's damage to get looting rights.
3000 or more hp: you have to do at least 1/16 of the top attacker's damage to get looting rights.

- The person who does the first blow gets their damage multiplied by 125% for the purposes of calculating looting rights

- First and last blows are also used in calculating a tiebreaker, but as you'd have to do EXACTLY the same amount of damage, ties would be rare.

Now, this (and the rest of that FoF) is only about loot found on corpses. It does NOT apply to artifacts, power scrolls, Treasures of Tokuno, or any other loot that appears in your backpack rather than on the corpse. Those items are governed by totally separate code.

(In another, separate addition to last week's info, there is NO cap on luck (other than the total possible from items spawning in the world)

If that's a bug, that really sucks!!! So when you dismount/remount or log out/in, then you magically have your looting rights back? Good thing to know.

I was able to confirm tonight at Lady Mel...

I got the "you are not allowed to loot this corpose" or whatever error message. I dismounted from my ride and re-mounted, and everything was fine.

FYI - Looks like there is a bug, but at least for the people riding mounts, dismounting seems to fix it.

Yup, I tried it too. And it worked. Had to do it a few times, coz everytime I moved away, I lose the looting rights again. But dismounting and mounting fixed it right away.

This is why parties usually disband after the Satyres are dead.

Dip, so do you think that bug has something to do with the party system? Not that it matters, but the programmer in me wonders these things

I do remember getting this error once before on a dragon I had killed, but I can't remember if I was alone or hunting with my brother in a party. The latter is possible.

I would imagine it comes from that.

I don't know, but maybe since the party did most of the damage to begin with (1 party = 1 persons looting rights in the codes eyes) and then when the party breaks up the individuals have whats left of the monsters HP to distribute between looting rights, those that don't meet the requirement may end up with not having rights even though they should.

Or it could be something as simple as they never did enough damage even while partied to begin with, so when the party disbands it acts accordingly.

But I've never had the problem if I dropped party before really doing any damage to Mel.
