What do you guys think? Are these templates still viable or should I join the club and pick something gimp?

120 Mage
120 Med
120 Eval
120 Resist
120 Macing
100 Tactics
20 Anatomy

Character 2 (Red)
120 mage
120 Med
120 Eval
120 Resist
120 Swords
100 Poison
20 Focus


These are the two templates I'm running with right now. They share a suit which gives 100 lrc, 40 lmc, 5 mr, 45+ dci and 15 hci (with shield). I can actually do fairly well with both and I like the fact that I'm going old school instead of gimp. There are some templates, though, that I have a really hard time with. Basically evade, ninja, bok bok, ep chugger, poison dexxers...

The first template is actually my favorite but it doesn't deal all that much damage unless I can get the 35 damage AI to hit with my war axe. It's sometimes hard to time though and it doesn't always reliably hit.

Anyway, should I scrap these templates for something more modern?

If you like them... play them. That is what UO is all about. Enjoying the template that you play.

Well of course I enjoy playing those characters but I may enjoy something more powerful.

What I'd do is this:

Character 1 (Blue)
120 Mage
120 Med
120 Eval
120 Resist
120 Swords
120 Nujitsu

Character 2 (Red)
120 mage
120 Med
120 Eval
120 Resist
120 Macing
100 Poison
20 Focus

Notice you won't have to re-work your weapon skill. Thinking about it, do it the other way round, make your red the swords ninja and you blue the nox macer.

And find yourself a good hit spell bukoto. Ninja is the new gimp skill to have. Keep anything that you take off, on stones. Don't throw away skills, unless its 20 focus.

And you can afford to drop poisoning to 80 with no loss. 120 wep skill + 80 nox = 200pts for leathal

Yeah I hate those bokuto users. I've never tried ninjitsu, is that a ninja move or a weapon move they're doing?

Its a bit of both. They can death strike with ninja, or use the weapon special if you have bushido. Its up to you whether you chose bushido or ninja. Personally, now I've thought about it, go bushido instead of ninja. See what everyone else says. But in the end you'll only have to work up one skill. So it'll be all good.
