This game is supposed to come out in a year or so? maybe not even that long. Is there going to be any kind of advertisements for UO:KR? Commercials? Just wondering how the people that don't play UO are going to get the word on the new Content and such. As it is now I can't say I have ever SEEN a UO commercial, and last night I seen a WoW commercial about 4 times while watching 1 show. Just a thought to the advertising department. Might try thinking about it Other than that AWESOME FREAKIN JOB DEVS/ANYONE ELSE THAT WORKS ON UO!!!

I'm pretty sure they wouldn't put this kind of effort into a new client and content if they didn't plan on doing some advertising and marketing. Patience, young Jedi

"I thought you said we were going to get all the info on UOKR before the end of the year? So, where’s all the info?"

That indeed was the original plan, and I’m sorry for the delay. We’ve had to hold back in order to satisfy the needs of print magazines (which have three month lead times) and for the big swanky press event that will be in January. And oh yeah, the January UO Town Hall meeting where we’ll be showing the new client in public for the first time.
OMG So they will be advertising

Yup, most big press outlets really, REALLY hate getting scooped by the community team If we want love from them, we have to give them first crack at the juicy stuff.

Re: Advertisement for UO:KR?

Seems fair. Would be classical to see a UO trailer come on after a WoW one though. I can't really believe WoW's gotten to the point where I'm seeing its adverts in between episodes of Scrubs and such though.

Re: Advertisement for UO:KR?

But WoW is "FLUFFY". UO is better, by far. I'm looking forward to the graphics upgrade because i recon its a litlle overdue. I need to upgrade my PC before it comes out though. My shard is 4000 miles away.

Re: Advertisement for UO:KR?

It'll be nice to have a graphics overhaul, but it's abit like putting a new coat of paint on a decrepid house with holes in the roof

Sure it looks nice with new paint, but the holes are still there and the structure (code) is still buggy and outdated

EA is to cheap to really make this game take off like in it's "hey day"

This is the greatest thing I have ever read.

WoW can afford to have commercials because everyone and their goldfish and their goldfish's goldfish knows about this game. If they put on a commercial for Ultima Online, most people would be scratching their heads. And if they put it on after a WoW commercial, then most people would probably be laughing at our sub-Diablo II graphics.

Still we loom in the mists as the ages roll away,
And we say of our folk, "they are here!"
That they built us and they died and you'll not be knowing why,
Save we stand on the bare plains of Wiltshire.

Re: Advertisement for UO:KR?

Must confess, after reading my comment again, I was abit harsh

The new client does look good, even from a pre beta stage, but then I think about all the bugs that were listed on UHall in that big thread, which remain broken
I think of all the promised PVP And crafting overhauls that we haven't seen, which were promised a fairly long time ago.
Not to mention the virtues which still aren't complete.

UO has alot of potential, I just don't think it'll ever be realised, unless EA spends some decent money on upgrading and fixing existing systems.

For the record, I have alot of respect for the dev, community and art team and I for one, appreciate the hard work they put into this game.

Re: Advertisement for UO:KR?

WoW is fluffy but fluff sells. I still prefer UO. But I really don't expect to see much in the way of ads. Not even in gaming magazines. Sad really.....

Scions of Fate gets more mention than UO and it is a free game!
