Spellweaving target?

Grinding my way up the Arcanist curve, I've been targetting myself for WoD casting. This works fine, except for the need to heal. Is it possible to target something like a runebook (like with Magery training) and get gains? I tried this early on but didn't see an effect -- maybe I was just inpatient.

Think you need a living target for WoD. I'd just cast on yourself, its not as though it does a lot of damage, like 12 dmg per hit. Make sure you don't have any arcane focus, you stand a chance of killing yourself. Use the blackrock............

I see peeps casting WoD on their horse at the br area, so maybe you can try that
