Question Fresh Stiches...

I had a mole removed today. I thought she said Laser removal when I spoke to her, but instead she cut me! I got 4 stiches and a big ol'cut. It hurts like a mofo. I am trying not to be a big weiny but its right near my armpit and its stinging like crazy. Besides taking a Asprin can I put triple antibiotic ointment on fresh stiches? She told me to keep a bandaid on it for 14 days(until I get the stiches out) and try to keep it dry. I know some TAO has a mild numbing agent in it and should help lessen the scaring..hopefully. But do you think it will give me the whoflungdingy (aka infected or sickness). I know that sounds retarded since TAO is a healing agent, but she didn't mention it in the office today.

Re: Fresh Stiches...

I'd ask your doc or pharmacist first. Most topical things aren't meant to go on wounds deep enough to need stitches.

Re: Fresh Stiches...

Good luck not scratching that thing off. If it helps, put something cold on it when it gets really itchy. If that doesn't work, try a brillow pad.

Re: Fresh Stiches...

Forget the brillo pad, though it made me chuckle.... when the itching starts just place a little pressure on the area and that should help it to subside. Or even tap lightly on the area. I know when I had one of my tattoos and it was healing that's how I had to deal with the itch. Sounds funny, but it works  and good luck.

Re: Fresh Stiches...

Yeah, or run something pointy (not too pointy to break skin) around the itchy non-touchable area.

Re: Fresh Stiches...

When I had my legs operated on, I had casts on my entire legs.. toe to hip. The itch was so intense when they took the cast off, they found all sorts of pointy things that got lost down there while trying to scratch

Re: Fresh Stiches...

Oh I know... you remember in middle school the rerport covers? They were clear with this piece of plastic that slid up the side to hold it together? Well that was the best itching device ever! And one got stuck in my cast.. I got a good yelling at for that one by the DR.

Hehe Snuggs... just a few more days, you can do it. Rascal's tip is pretty good, try tapping on it, that should help.
