I have not been able to log in to OSI in a week now. It hangs up at the verifying account stage and never goes farther. I have had DSL problems at night lately and the tech had me reset my modem, but I can access anything I want online during the day, except for being unable to log in.

Anyone have some thoughts for me on how to get it working? I don't think resetting my modem reset my firewall settings, it did block but that gump came up and I authorized it to go past the firewall.

are u up to date on ur client patches?

FYI, for the past couple weeks, I've had that problem, but quitting UO and restarting the application has always made it work.

Hmmm, have you tried to ping the login servers?

Go to Start-->Run-->type "cmd" no quotes-->type "ping www.login.owo.com" again with no quotes. IF it gives you a series of numbers followed by "ms" you are able to get to it, so it isnt the "wire route" you have to go...

Id also try to connect and let it sit at the "Verifying Acct" screen for a moment, then press Ctrl-Alt-Delete at the same time and look at the applications tab to see if the client itself is froze up.

When all else fails, reinstalling the client fixes a variety of problems. If you have a Mondains Legacy disc, patching shouldnt be that painful, but anything earlier than that can take a little bit.

Was really hoping I wouldn't have to go the reinstall route. I have all the patches through last week, and Mondain's plus the 9th Anniversary edition. I am going to let it ride two more days until my son resets all my settings from the dsl down, then I will try some of the suggestions. The Ping resulted in a score of 75. I have been having packet loss for over a week but that's not the problem tonight because it's at 0 loss tonight.

Restarting the thing never helps.. I have UOAssist and I have tried it with and without Assist, thinking maybe Assist needed an update, but neither worked.

I am really hating the wait, but son will be here on weekend and will reset my stuff, maybe that's the problem. If not... reinstall it is... :0( Thanks ya'll. appreciate the guidance. EDIT: Oh crud... the Mondain's one is the one I kept trying to order and the stupid store kept lousing up the order! GRRRR Ok.. tried the cntrl alt thing.. the exe is running at 49 and 50 .. not frozen... because it goes up and down a little

My mom's in the same boat.

She hasn't been able to log in to Lake Superior for days now. I won't be able to help her 'til I visit her again in a few days, so tonight I had to log in and put a vacation wafer on her fish tank.

She plays free shards, too, so I have a sneaky suspicion this may be related to that since I can log in to her accounts from my house (I never ever play free shards).

I've been having a similar problem. I get to the client window, type in my password, hit enter, and the client freezes at that point before the "Verifying Account" window even appears. At this point, I just right-click and close the client from the taskbar.

Thank you all for your input... guess I may fiddle with my settings a little more, then if it comes down to that... {{{{shudder}}}} I will reinstall...

By the way, in follow up, I was able to determine that my mom's problems were indeed caused by the fact that she plays not only the real shards (which is good) but the free shards (which is bad but that I can't talk her out of, and since she's retired I don't have the heart to).

First I verified she was stuck in the account registration phase of the real shards.

Then I spent ages backing up her UO "desktop" directory and then installing UO 9th age and patching it and restoring her settings. I verified that after installation she could get into Lake Superior.

Then she tried the free shard, and after that she once again could not get into the real shard.

After lots of examination, I figured out her free shard software was ruining a file the real shards need to log in. Spotting that I was able to get her in without re-installing all over again.
