A Miner's letter of warning

Posted on UOStratics Wednesday, November 22, 2006, 6:05 PM EST by Braelynn Aria (CommunityNews)

Greetings Fellow Britanians, it is with some worry that I report to you this evening. I returned from some errands today to find a scroll on my staircase. The following was the letter I found. Please be fairly warned by it's contents and be on your guard should you be out and about near mining areas of Sosaria.

It was like any other day. I went out to fulfill my menial existence by mining some ore and creating armor and weapons for the warriors of the upper class. As I left the protection of the city walls in Luna, I made sure that the jester had not slipped one of those accursed enchanted gargoyles pickaxes that can keep an honest miner from coming back to see his humble hobble. He hadn’t so off I went.

On this particular day I went to my favorite mine to dig up some golden ore to make my Land Owner a new set of plate armor, when to my surprise, I saw a flash of light that contained my whole life before it. After waking and talking a bit with a kindly old man that called himself St. Peter, I was enlightened as to the seriousness of the condition that I was just a part of. It seems that I had unearthed a mythical creature that had long since been forgotten over the years. The people of old knew it as a Blackrock Elemental. It seems that this creature was more powerful than many of the dreaded Champions that I’ve heard great warriors boast of vanquishing. St. Peter then told me that due to the severity of this new series of events a rare thing was to take place with me, and the ethereal field that I found myself in. I would actually be returned to my body for a very important mission. (I know what you’re thinking, and if you think I’m going to fight to vanquish that thing you’ve got another thing coming.) I was to be sent back to act as an alert to the towns’ people who could battle this fiend, for if not warned, it could mean the end of our existence.

As I write this a large group of valiant knights, heroic stoics and rough necked tamers are doing battle with the beast. I have seen the strength of this beast and fear they may not be successful, so it is to you, whatever human, mortal or enchanted being finds this that I write. Know now that the races known as humans and elves once roamed these lands and fought hard for our existence.

those BR ele's are tough as hell. They regen their life way too fast.
I don't bother with them at all, i quickly run away and start to dig for more blackrock. so far i have gotten about 40 pieces of blackrock, all in different sizes, but mostly big sized blackrock around 23-25 stones in weight

Re: A Miner's letter of warning

then you have them EV and ooze monsters that also pops out of nowhere.
last night we had 25 chars on formosa and 3 BR elle's and 2 oozes and 3 EV monsters, and let me tell you, i never had so much fun dying so damn much.
We nearly killed 1 BR elle, but then it teleported back to original spawn area, and guess what, he was at full health

Re: A Miner's letter of warning

I've not seen any BR eles! I think I may be fortunate! hehe

What does mining have to be to dig up black rock? And what do you do with it after you dig it up?

*feels like such a noob!!*
