| Locking Karma
I know that you can lock Karma to keep it from rising. Can we lock Karma to keep it from falling?
If not, why can't we.
It is beneficial to Necros to keep Karma low as it would be beneficial to Paladins to keep it high.
If good Karma characters can't lock it then neither should bad Karma characters.
edit: sorry to post two in a row here but I can't post on Stratics until I work out the kinks in my proxy server configuration.

No such lock exists. And rightfully so, I might add. The lock that prevents karma from rising was added because 'evil' characters were gaining karma by killing monsters, a basic function that all players must do at some point.
On the other hand, locking the karma so it does not lower doesn't make any sense. Paladins shouldn't be able to retain high karma despite running around murdering or performing negative acts, should they?

Well, you can only lower your karma by doing negative acts, so by avoiding that, you won't lose any karma. It is much easier to maintain higher karma, than lower karma. Since killing anything in game will raise ur karma, a lock was needed for people who wanted to maintain negative karma. If there wasn't, then what would they kill for money, cause they'd constantly be gaining karma all the time. However, you can do everything you want in game and be functional without losing karma. The Necro doesn't have that luxury, so the karma lock was instituted.

On a different hand, the Paladins are not murdering but protecting Sosaria from the evil scourge. Nothing negative about that. I am talking about PvM. PvP can have different rules if you want! lol
Edit to add: We lose Karma by dieing to the evil scourge, so Necro's SHOULD rasise Karma by killing the scourge.

I'm not talking about PvP, either. There are good NPCs (kirins, pixies, etc) and there are bad NPCs (nearly everything else). Nobody should be able to kill good NPCs without losing karma. So yeah, I agree with you that they shouldn't be losing karma for killing evil NPCs, but good NPCs, they should. Quote: |

| No, we don't. We lose fame. Karma is not affected by death.

Are you sure? I am almost positive we lose both fame and Karma. Because when we die you have to "retrain" both.
As a side note someone on stratics had the same idea because there is a thread now in uhall about this same issue. LoL
If you read these forums Fox, Thanks for bringing this issue up there! |

Deraj is correct. When you die and are resurrected, the message reads you have lost a great deal of fame.
There are certain acts that lower karma, though. Begging, murder, and use of the Poisoning skill are just three. Casting Necro spells is another.

The titles "Lord/Lady" are those from fame or Karma? My character right now is Glorious Lady Anya. If I die a few times in succession (i.e. the new graveyard spawn) I will be titled as Glorious Anya and so on.

Lord/Lady is a fame title, Glorious is the karma title. Here is a page you might find useful detailing all the different fame and karma titles: http://uo.stratics.com/content/reput...amekarma.shtml
