Guild Names

Howdy,

I was just wondering if you are in a guild? or maybe you own one and what they were called? and if there was anythng special about it, like a cool phrase or something like that?

I was in this really fun guild before called AvsP not very original I know, but it was fun because there were about 20 people 10 alien side and 10 pred side and they had a constant war inside the guild between the 2 races, you had 2 H.Q's about 8 screens away from one another and had missions and all sorts....

I'm just curious to see what some of the names are and how many people are in there, what rank names you have maybe? and just anything you wanna share about the guild you are in or have been in.........

Re: Guild Names

I'm currently in

The Baronship of Cove - BoC
Vesper Trading Company - VTC
The Undead - UD

All RP guilds with it's own special thing. The undead I'm helping to lead.

In the undead we role play skeletons that's constantly raiding and fighting the human rp guilds, and we hate them, we hate them all. And my rank in UD is "undead nightmare" (nightmare being our assassin kinda likes).

In VTC we have a tavern which we role play and we have frisky barmaids and all kinds of stuff, and we are secretly rebels of the king! (which pretty much means we war any loyalist guilds in the community). My title there is Tavern Fool

And in BoC we play an independent military guild based in Cove (The biggest RP guild on europa atm!) and fighting the loyalists etc. Cool stuff. My in game rank there is Junior Guardsman.

Re: Guild Names

My current guild: Dragons of the Eight Virtues [D8V]

This is the guild I finally founded after having bounced from one guild to another (after having left the very first guild I was ever a part of) without finding what I was really looking for in a true RP guild. The name is partially derived from the Ultima Dragons Internet Chapter (http://www.udic.org/) and is the effort of my character to continue on, true to Lord British and his Virtues, while gathering as many like minded individuals together as are still in our world. We are RP only but with an emphasis on avoiding "cheezy RP" or "lettuce eating". I have also barrowed from previous guilds of note on our shard and incorporated the concept of the "outlander" into our guild's outlook. The outlander..non-roleplayers or anti-roleplayers..was seen as a plague among Britannia by those who coined the phrase, to be killed or driven out of Britannia. Outlanders are not true to the ways of Sosaria, hence their name. Our guild, however, takes a different view to the outlanders in keeping with the spirit of Britannia. Outlanders are to be shown Compassion above all, and shown the ways of Sosaria that they may choose to embrace the world in which they walk, however they are still not to be given free reign of the world and we do fight them in Felucca on sight (the typical champ spawn guilds, the gate clingers, et cetera).

There is no rank within our guild, for I will not have the drama and machinations which come with such systems. No "high councils", "elders" or "divisions" will ever exist in D8V. Instead, we each carry the idential guild title of "Britannian", for that is our path which binds us together.

Re: Guild Names

A friend and I started Metuo Ictus [^MI^] (its latin for Dread Strike) when we were both playing our necros pretty exclusively. We were hoping to get some neg karma players together to do some champs, general dungeon raiding, etc.

We had a few interested parties, pretty sure we even had a few initiates that dropped after a while, but for the most part it was just our accts.

As far as titles, they were based on the char that got them, like a nickname kinda thing.

Re: Guild Names

When i first started playing UO in 97 I was on the baja shard. I joined KDF (Kingz of the Digital Field). We pk'ed, raided, stole, and caused a lot of strife for everyone. I got tired of this eventually and then joined LoD (Lords of Darkness), cause my friend was GM. LoD was the best guild on Baja in terms of pvp for about 4 years. We warred a lot, and did factions. Anyone who's been on baja from day 1 knows how strong LoD was. I then joined H2O(Hard 2 Overcome) for a brief period, but I retired cause I quit UO for a while.

Now I'm in LLTS(The Syndicate) in Atlantic.

Re: Guild Names

Hehe, The Syndicate does sound a little shady, I must admit, but it's far from it. It is the largest guild in UO, but it's mostly just about having fun with whoever. A lot of people on atlantic have this misconception about LLTS, mostly due to the fact that there is a rigorous recruitment process you have to go through. My guess is that most of the people that gripe about LLTS are the ones who applied at one point or another and didn't make the cut. Some may think I have a biased opinion, which is fine by me, but LLTS holds true to kindness and generosity, which is one of the main reasons I joined. I went from scummy guilds that caused a lot of trouble for the community to a guild that tries it's best to support and help anyone they come across. Kinda funny what time and age does to ya!

Re: Guild Names

The first guild I joined when I started UO on Baja long ago, was Clan of the Timber Wolves (CTW). They eventually all left for Sonoma because of cheaper housing prices. I quit UO for a few months and came back right after Trammel was formed, on Pacific. Shortly thereafter I met the members of Steel & Magic through a friend from my former guild. I joined and worked my way through the ranks to assistant GM. Eventually I left to join GoL (Guardians of Light), and ended up leading that guild for a short time before leaving to rejoin Steel & Magic. I got tired of the hugeness of GoL and the constand activity and rank system and keeping up with it all. I am now GM of Steel & Magic, and happy with our family atmosphere and the medium-sized nature of the guild. It has kept its emphasis on the virtues and being helpful to everyone for all this time largely due to its second GM, Talesn, pushing for virtuous behavior both in and out of game.

Steel & Magic's name came about because of the early experiences of the founding members in their former guilds. They experienced favoritism for mages over warriors in the other guilds, and wanted a name that emphasized the importance of both in their guild culture. They also probably thought that "S&M" was funny for an abbreviation. I wouldn't change it for the world now. It's fun having one of the original Pac guilds with the original stone and castle from so long ago. We've only had three GM's during that time including me, and I was so honored to take over a guild with such history. I'm still trying to capture it all in some sort of history log for the website, before everything is forgotten.

It's fun reading the origin of some of the guild names I've seen before, and some I haven't. Keep up the posting on this!

BTW this is my first post here. Hello to everyone, and I'm mostly a lurker but I'll post whenever something really interests me!
