i have just made a theif and i paid a theif to get his stealing into the 20's but how do i get it up more?? what do i do??

I have never trained a thief but you can steal from locked containers in towns (provisioners usually have locked boxes) but don't get caught or you get guardwhacked. (don't wear any insured stuff you'll go broke). Moonglow had a shop with the dried herbs we use for decorating.

It may have changed but used to you would steal items from your pack animal. You were supposed to steal something that weighs 1/10 of your skill. (at 20 you would steal a 2 stone item)

I don't know if things have changed in stealing so hopefully some friendly thief can post better advice.

What a guy in my faction guild did was use a packhorse and sit there stealing from it. He did it in fel, in my house. I have a small walled area in my house that I used for training resist on my pets(put em inside and they dont bite you), and he ended up getting to 120 on the same packhorse and items inside it. I dont remember exactly what he was stealing, but it was along the lines of Tuk's response, 1/10th or something.

From my memory, I would steal from a pack horse in town. had a few stacks of gold, and would target steal from him, mixing the gold up from time to time to get around the anti macro code. It was really slow, and I had almost given up around 80 or so. The stacks were 1/10th the actual skill, I do recall. I did not get guardwhacked this way, since I was guilded and the packie was guarding me. (somthing I never understood, but it worked).
