Well.. guess I'm entitled.

So I'm on project, waiting to move ahead, but relying on other people to uphold their end of the deal purely sucks.

Told them over 6 months ago Virus software licences would expire. Reminded them at 3 months. 1 month. Now its all past due. Its been passed to three other leads so far, on a "plan of attack". They said I don't need to, or shouldn't have to, since its a software procurement, and as the network guy, it should be one of them doing it.

Bloodyhell, I can go online and get the software and the 30 some licences, and either download it, or have it overnighted.

So all that; to keep security off my !!!, is on hold due to someone being too lazy to do their job.

Same said people; have known since I came on board we need to decommission some older servers. Now its crunch time, no one wants to put their balls in the fire and say Cut it. I've had the damn things powered off, and off line for over a month, and not one person has bitched. Can I get them to sign off on the decom... NNNNNOOOOOOoooooo.... its the old fabled "We might need something" bull!!!!.... But I've already moved the 'identified' items off to the new servers.

And what about the "Takers" ??? Its all fine and good to go helping others, but when you turn around and say, help me with this, they're always too fooking busy! WTF is up with that. Sure, I help folks out as best I can, but don't just make lame excuses. If folks don't want to help out, then they sure as hell should keep their mouths' shut, and not offer.

And why the hell are people so afraid to "cold call" others? Got a job lined up, to make a few more bucks, and the people just aren't communicating. They're trying to milk the info/data out of me without paying up. Shyte like that makes me wanna just drop the idea.

Suppose I'm just cranky since I got "things" that need or can be done, and stuck waiting for the politics. Suppose next week or so, I'll just do it, and then tell them tuff !!!!. Just makes me so fooking loony.

Awe well, at least I got "friends" who can still !!!! on me and make it look & smell nice, and try to tell me its not what I think it is. Whatever!

Bloody Hell sounds about right. Sorry! Isn't it the 'Peter Principal" in motion? Or am I mistaking the source... something about people being promoted to their level of incompetancy and staying there.. sounds like there are a few of those sticking in your craw, big time. Hope it works out better sooner. Better yet, maybe someone will catch on and no... that would not work.. was gonna say maybe the 'upper management' would hire competant people to work with you, but that in itself is too unlikely to merit the thought... Don't feel too badly. Try working for the government. I've worked for federal, state, and municipal agencies my entire career and let me tell ya, its all about today and never about tomorrow. I feel for ya. Unfortunately, I've had that battle so many times, I can't muster the strength to argue much anymore. I just make sure I file the paperwork that says I recommend this or that, wait, then later, sit back and sigh when they ask why something wasnt done and I show them the recommendation I sent to them. My rear is safe and the manager is on the hot seat
