well i used too...

to play world of warcraft....yes i got a couple of charectors maxed out there and i decided to come back to uo, which ive only played for 8 months. upon playing uo again with all my friends gone who can explain things to me...ive come to realize that i dont know !!!! about this game.

questions:
1: is there armor mitigation i heard there isnt....
2: im a swords/anat/lumber/heal/etc...if somone can explain these to me cause on wow vs uo the stats are like guys and girls meaning 2 diff things...im a swords fighter, whats better str or dex...how can i build my stats...do i need a shield....is there or isnt there armor mitigation...if you playing with swords whats a respectable build??.... just basic ideas of how people do what for there chars....

on wow i was know for my pvp abilities and for the understanding of charector (no i wasnt a god but i had played the class well enuff to get some notice)..

id like to hear from others about there builds and what not cause these 2 games are completely different.

oh and i have to mention iim drunk...so take it easy on my grammar and run on senences...i think you get the jist of my post.

Way too much stuff to explain in detail, but I'll try and get you started on some things...

First of all I have no idea what "armor mitigation" is, so I'd venture a guess that we don't have that in UO

As for stats, here's what they do in a nutshell:

Strength: determines your total hit points and the total weight you can carry. Also adds a slight damage bonus if over 100.
Dexterity: determines the amount of stamina you have, which in turn determines the speed at which you swing a weapon. Also used for other speed-type checks for other skills, for instance, more dex makes your bandages apply faster.
Intelligence: determines your total amount of mana, affects mana regeneration rate.

As for the skills you mentioned:

Swords: affects your hit/miss ratio and your defense. Basically determines how often you hit your enemy and how often you get hit.
Anatomy: gives a damage bonus and improves the amount of damage you heal with bandages. Also enables you to cure poison and resurrect others through the healing skill, if both are high enough.
Lumber: slight damage bonus when using axe weapons, lets you chop trees for wood!
Healing: lets you use bandages to heal damage. If high enough and coupled with anatomy, you can cure poison and resurrect players using bandages too.

- you can gain stat points when you gain in a skill, I think the intervals for stat point gains are 15 minutes. As in, you gain in swords and get +1 strength, then you can't gain a stat for another 15 minutes. By locking different stats in the status bar you can choose which stats go up, which go down, and which stay as they are.

- using a shield depends on your own preference and the skills you have. If you use bushido, don't use a shield. If you don't have parry skill, the shield is only good for the few extra properties on it but won't actually block much anything.

Someone else can maybe take over and go into more in-depth warrior template stuff as I'm hardly one to work on most efficient characters... too much roleplayer in me for that...

first of in wow there were different types of armor cloth, leather, chainmail, and plate ie a plate breastplate would have 1200 armor class whereas leather would only have 500 if that its been awhile. mitigation is where when i hit some for lets say 1000damage.

a typical plate wearer would have about 7000ac and a leather wearer would be maybe 2000. mitigation is how much damage you would actually receive with your armor. thats just an explanation of it and UO doesnt have it just resists ive learned.

the stats i listed on plated would reduce(miigate the damage by 50% which is what we call tanking gear...he pulls the mob therefore he takes less damage and have healers take care of him while others beat on the monster....and the leather mitigation would be at the stats i listed ruffly 20-25%. i hope that gives ya a liltte understanding and i wanted to answer that question since im a veteran of wow.


my next question is i wanted to know some viable warrior builds ie what i should have my dex and str and intell and stam at. like i said on WoW i knew typically what each class should have and what armors they should wear.

i carry a shield right now for the stats but im not sure if i should be working parrying or if i should take up chivalry which i heard is for warriors who want to cast magic.

i guess im looking to pick peoples brains and try to see what there playing, cause this game is totally different from WoW, and id like to get a better idea so that i am in the know.

yepper, i got the gist of your tipsy post but I'm not a fighter, so i can't help you in that department. However, Adrianna Danere and others here at UOForums will try their best to get you going.
