Hello everyone.
I have noted that discussions about the in-game economy often begin with a distinction between money changing hands between players and the generation of new money, usually through killing monsters and looting their gold.
I figured an informal survey on this subject might be of some use. Also, I have just been curious about this for a long time.
Just a couple of questions then.
Note please that these questions are about CASH ONLY. Those of you who are item-rich are, to my mind, in a seperate category.
Also note that these questions are about your primary account. So if you want to look poorer than you really are, put your gold on your seconadary account(s) prior to the survey.
Or, just lie.
*chuckles*
1. Is the net worth of your primary account 5 million gold pieces or over (yes or no). (If this were a "real" survey, btw, I would be asking for the net worth of your main account, or presenting you with ranges, for example, 0 to 2m, 2m to 5m, etc., etc. However, to respect everyone's privacy as much as possible in this public forum I wanted to be as generic as possible.)
2. Did you obtain MOST (50%+) of your gold by generating new wealth (for example, by gold farming), or through trade with other players. (I know most people use multiple methods. But through which method did you acquire over 50% of your gold.)
3. What is your primary account's specific method of acquiring gold. (For example, if you are an arti farmer, a p-scroll dealer, do you don a luck suit and hunt for high-level non-artifact items, are you paid wages by a rich guild such as a spawn guild, etc.)
I'll start.
1. Yes.
2. Trade with other players.
3. Selling artifacts at vendors or via bank sitting.
However, back 6 months to a year ago, I earned "wages" from a champ spawn guild by trading in "points" earned by doing champ sapwns, and back then that was my primary means.
