Thanks for the reply mercenary. Just threw up a toon on LS just to see how the game was. And yah the 2D client is still great. Problem i'm seeing right now is, when you do the char select screen and start a new toon. I thought when you hit the advanced button after you set your skills and stats and everything you coudl pick where you wanted to start. I picked moonglow (always loved starting there) and there was the tour which I cancelled but I dont seem to be in moonglow i'm in I think Haven is it? The castle that you can start in think it gives a tutorial or something. Didnt really want to start there. I suppose I can travel to a city and find someone to gate me to moon, but have to go through that hassle unless there's another way.

I think if you choose advanced character you always end up in Haven. However, if you travel to the southeast portion of Haven, you'll come across the moongate which you can use to get to moonglow. Lake Superior, Great Lakes, and Europa seem to be the most active shards in terms of things to do, but I think Atlantic might be the most populated shard among the USA shards.
When I came back it was a choice between Atlantic and Great Lakes for me, however, I live in the DC area, so Atlantic seemed to be the best for me. I was in Chessy, but man, no one is there anymore. It's kinda sad |

I live up in Maine so no clue which shard would be in the EST time zone, but read a lot of posts and they mention a decent idea. Start a char in some of these more populated shards and see which one is better. Of course with all the help i'm gettin on this forums might just join a shard with some of you all.

Well, if you like more populated shards, I would go with atlantic. If you like role playing or events and stuff like that, Europa or Great Lakes would be best. I base most of knowledge on this stuff by looking through stratics. GL seems to have the most consistent amount of events going on, with Europa being a close second. Atlantic has some really cool people on it, but since there are a lot of people there, there are also more a##holes just through percentage terms.

I'll probably check out both GL and Atlantic. I like the RP sense of it, but I definately prefer to be around a bigger community. And yes Damin yay maine lol. Gotta love it up here.

well if you do decide on atlantic, lemme know. i could lend you some money for a house and you could place it where i used to live. my old house is still there for a little while longer. it's not the biggest place, i think i lived in a 9x8 or 9x9? but it's a start.

I might just check out Atlantic. I have ICQ (just installed it at home today) but since i'm at work can't really check out what my # is. I definately miss my old crew on LS but I highly doubt if anyone is still around so very interested in meeting some new folks on UO. Thinkin bout doing a mage/tamer to start off with, but kinda want to make a decent toon I can go treasure hunting with as well and make soem decent cashflow. Ahh the joys of skill gaining. Definately appreciate the offer as well |

Sure thing. I would suggest making a warrior first, cause they're the least expensive to get started, and with the right gear you can take on a good amount of monsters that drop a good amount of gold. However, with the introduction of Lower reagent cost suits, you can GM magery pretty cheaply cause you won't have to buy regs. It's really all up in the air.
Anyway, I just checked my old house and it's "somewhat worn" and I just moved yesterday, so I'm thinking it'll still be up for the next couple more days. You would have to place a house down soon though, cause it's surrounded by neighbors who I'm sure wouldn't mind "expanding" their own houses with my former plot, haha.

I'll probably try to hop on in the morning when I get out of work. Used to have a decent warrior on my old account, but since i'm starting a new should I just use the standard warrior temp or is there a decent template to set up?
